How in the world does this teach the NRA a lesson? Ah the "outdoor show" is a gun show....so we need cops why? Who would be DUMB ENOUGH to cause problems in a place where people are armed? lol

You maybe didn't read about this, but last time there were two accidental gun firings at the event. How stupid are people to misfire a weapon with people around. People are supposed to have gun training.

What a effing moron! If guns shows were dangerous, how does anyone get through one alive?
Sorry Mayor Platypus, but gun shows have their own inherent security.
Sounds like he'll be replaced next election.
PennLive.com reported that local police aren't happy with the decision. They have worked inside the show for 30 years and many officers need the extra pay. The NRA agreed to an increase over next three years from $30 an hour to $40 an hour, but the city wanted $50. About 40 police worked in past shows.
And worse for Harrisburg: PennLive.com said that the city will pay cops extra overtime to compensate for the lost NRA wages.
This mayor is NOT making friends here he is pissing cops off,his temper tantrum could hold back MILLIONS in revenue for the area as well.
Maybe the show should be held elsewhere, then. Don't give Harrisburg the estimated $70 million. I'm sure there are other towns with space available that would love the income the show generates.
That being said I always volunteered for event duty in my day. Hey if someone wanted to overpay me to feel more secure that's their business.
