Meanwhile in Mexico, did they ever find the 100+ students that were killed and burned\buried in the desert by drug gangs and politicians.

It's important to glorify the struggle of the drug lords, they're just like robin hood right?

Mexico doesn't want to extradite Chapo to the US, meaning he'll be out again in a couple years through some "secret" bathtub tunnel. Penn is dead unless he goes into a witness protection program and goes to a really remote part of the country, like Wyoming or Maine or something.

If there is even a question that those involved in the interview gave info toward capture, there is reason to be very concerned for all involved. Like send in the cleaners. Penn could not hide anywhere, too recognizable. Although he kind of looks like any homeless junkie on the street, he's still too famous to hide.

Yes they do...

Mexico begins process of extraditing drug kingpin El Chapo to the US
Mexico has begun the process of extraditing drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán to the United States after the famed fugitive was recaptured following a dramatic, months-long hunt featuring movie stars, sewer escapes and bloody shootouts.

That process will probably take “one year or longer”, the head of Mexico’s extradition office, Manuel Merino, told Radio Formula on Monday.

...
Mexico’s willingness to extradite Guzmán is a sharp turnaround from the last time he was captured in 2014, when then-attorney general Jesús Murillo Karam said the extradition would happen only after he finished his sentence in Mexico in “300 or 400 years”.
Mexican authorities do not want to look like fools again and have him escape on their watch.

I heard he's expected to have an army of lawyers filing injunctions and delaying tactics. still, this is promising.

That bolded part was the last I knew on their position regarding Chapo's extradition. Thanks for that info, I appreciate it. Maybe there is a glimmer of hope.

Most likely scenario is Penn learned that the Feds knew or learned about his meetings and he had no choice but to turn to avoid prosecution.

Prosecution of what? Aiding and abetting? Those are the only things I can think of, but damn...I'd take my chances with the feds over El Chapo. Especially when people in agencies can be bought off, which has been demonstrated by Chapo multiple times.

I heard one of the neighbors turned him in, no very smart to publicize.

I guess this is what we are reduced to, actors and actresses interviewing drug lords. The new journalism.
