Unions are created because of bad employers.

Has government ever, or is now a bad employer?
The only other conclusion I can come to, is revenue skimmed off the top to place in someones pocket.

It will not do that. Those types of payments would be unaffected by this ruling.

Spoiler
Because you can already opt out of dues that go to political purposes.

Exactly-in California Union members pay about $1,000 per year. Non-Union Members pay about $600, and it cannot be used for political purposes-only collective bargaining.

The thing about this is it would significantly reduce not only Democrat's campaign funding, but also their get-out-the-vote efforts, which are largely staffed and funded by labor unions. We have already seen it have that effect in Wisconsin after Scott Walker made the payment of public union dues voluntary in that state.

Of course this whole arrangement is just a thinly veiled shake-down racket of the sort that mobsters, such as the ones that tend to run these unions, tend to model their operations around. In the case of the unions, especially the public unions, the unions "kick up" cash to the Democrat officeholders who serve as their benefactors, who then in turn serve as advocates of the unions in legislatures across the country at the state and national level. It is a truly symbiotic relationship.

And the little people get shaken down and taken, against their will, for fees and dues which are frequently quite substantial. It is time to put an end to all of this.

Lightbulb Watching the castration of public sector labor unions will be a great warm up for the 2016 election

Labor unions used to be an effective lobbying/influence force for the working class in American politics. Of course, the 1% couldn't tolerate them acting as a counterbalance to their greed. So, it should surprise no one that this corporatist supreme court will do whatever they can to follow their masters' instructions and neutralize every union they can.

It's so amusing to see working class "conservatives" supporting this stuff, while whining about an economy that remains stagnant for 90% of us.

I don't know what government you are working for....

But to get a 60% pension in local government here you would have to work 40 years before the age of 65 (1.5% per year, and you stop accumulating once you hit 65).
Cost of living raises were suspended in 1986. Merit raises and step raises in 2007. By the time you hit 40 years you are typically making 30-50% below market rate (and yes, less than new employees at the same organization, but if you leave before retirement age you lose your up to 50% of your pension points).

Even the cheapest health care plan ($10k deductible) is $10/month.
Vacation time is use it or lose it; there is no pay out if you do not use it. Sick time does not exist anymore.

and I believe that is the very point

why should a NON-MEMBER be forced to pay a union due

if you CHOSE (you know that really american thing called freedom) not to be a member of a union, why should you be FORCED to pay money into the union

unions are anti-freedom

Labor unions were also great resources for funding various mafia concerns. Without them, there might not be a Vegas

Because if you are voluntarily taking a position with pay/benefits that are there because of a Labor Union, you still reap the benefits of it. Why should a Non-Union member get the same pay/benefits of a Union employee when the pay/benefits were collectively bargained and agreed upon because of the Union?

Such a person is perfectly FREE to find a position in the private sector, with no security and no benefits-and I guess most importantly for them-NO LABOR UNION or Representation.

In fact, in 25 States they could actually take a Union position and not be responsible for paying ANY union dues. The "Right to Work states".

Disagree, unions are created not due to bad employers, nor employees, but they come as a result of a lack of competition for labor.
