Jason Rezaian is being released, Iranian news agency says - Jan. 16, 2016

I remember watching that Anthony Bourdain show when he visited Iran and he interviewed the journalist Jason Rezaian and his wife. Jason was gushing over how much he loved living there and as soon as the show aired, he got arrested for "espinionage". Held for 18 month. I bet Bourdain feels some sense of guilt over this. And I bet that Rezaian won't be gushing about Iran ever again.

Glad they're being released.

Glad they're free, but this is yet another Fail for the Obama administration. We had to swap 6 know Iranian criminals for 4 Americans that were essentially being held hostage on bogus charges!

The Americans should have been freed with no strings attached as part of the bogus Nuke deal.

Another chapter in the art of a terrible spineless deal!

I wouldn't blame him for this. I am just glad they're freed.

Israel swapped 1,027 terrorists in exchange for 1 kidnapped Israeli soldier.

We (civilized nations) value human life more than many of these 3rd world societies. That's what separates us.

My interpretation of a 1st world nation is one that has a peaceful transfer of power.

Good news and another step forward in Obama's diplomatic approach. Hopefully, our nations can move away from the distrust and even hatred that has separated us for for nearly 50 years. It would benefit us both.

"Diplomatic approach?" Please. He doesn't deserve that kind of credit. He is responsible for the entire mess that is the M.E. today.

You're right. I forgot that Obama propped up Pahlavi and helped Saddam kill a million Iranians.

That's really not possible as all 4 were also Iranian citizens. The US State Department warns about this. Their own country has the right to enforce their laws on their own citizens, and there's not a damned thing the US can do about it.

Iran state TV: 4 Iranian-American dual national prisoners released | abc7.com

Quote:
"Each country has its own nationality laws based on its own policy. Persons may have dual nationality by automatic operation of different laws rather than by choice.

"...The US Government recognizes that dual nationality exists but does not encourage it as a matter of policy because of the problems it may cause. Claims of other countries on dual national U.S. nationals may conflict with US law, and dual nationality may limit US Government efforts to assist nationals abroad. The country where a dual national is located generally has a stronger claim to that person's allegiance.

However, dual nationals owe allegiance to both the United States and the foreign country. They are required to obey the laws of both countries. Either country has the right to enforce its laws, particularly if the person later travels there."
Dual Nationality

That's why those born dual (or more) citizens are Constitutionally ineligible for President. They owe allegiance to a foreign country and are legally obligated to obey a foreign country's laws including but not limited to mandatory military service.
