If you want to remove the tax exempt status of religious organizations you need to remove it for all tax exempt organizations. Boy scouts, Red Cross, NAACP, soup kitchens,... and on down the list.

I will note that there was no valid reason, in my mind, to tear down the 'old' Dallas Cowboy stadium (built in 1971). However, the owner, Jerry Jones, wanted a new stadium with lots of 'executive' suites for him to sell.

The good people of Arlington approved a tax hike to help pay for the new AT&T stadium. Some old people lost their homes so a grand parking lot could be also built, but that did not seem to bother anyone.

That's another topic that gets me going. Eminent domain is necessary for large public projects e.g. power lines, gas lines, highways etc. It should never be used for commercial ventures like malls or stadiums.

No. Talk about welfare queens. Why people willingly vote to subsidize these is beyond me. Especially when so many of the people who vote for them can't afford the good seats!!!

I just don't like taxpayer money going to organizations that wall in a religion or any part of what they are offering. If we give an exempt status, I think, the facilities should be open to all of the taxpayers that contributed + free.

Watch the pregame news. There will be thousands of people getting hammered by 9 am. That is the typical fanbase at these stadiums.

What if the stadium is paid for solely with additional sales and luxury taxes placed on tickets and player salaries, and the stadium is 100% publicly owned?
(Keeping in mind that no owner would go for that deal unless forced to by their league.)

No! Never. That is not an appropriate government function. Government should never subsidize businesses or products.

If it is a sound financial investment then somebody in the private sector will do it. Why do you think these teams want government money? Because it's not a good investment.
