That was the old stereotype this is new. These include middle and upper class people, doctors, lawyers, blue collar you name it. Leading very normal lives until they become addicted, this is not the profile we are accustomed to. Social media has made it much more accessible, no longer need to drive to a crack house or bad area. It is epidemic and it impacts the cost of health care, decent families at a great cost to our society, not easily dismissed as you indicated. Obviously you have no experiences or education when it comes to heroin or opioids.
People who have surgery get legitimate prescriptions for narcotic-based pain killers. Then when the need for them is gone, the pills have run-out and they are already kinda addicted to them.......they want the party to continue on.
Whites have more money, thus more access to drugs.
Moreover, they're more apt to walk IF they get a dope charge, so there's little incentive to fear the repercussions if they get popped.
It's an ironic case of where white privilege is kinda deadly.
I kind of agree with this, especially the bold.
As a black American who grew up in the crack epidemic (1980s-1990s) I saw first hand what drugs can do to people and so I knew I would never touch the stuff.
Most of my black peers are the same. We know what drug abuse/addiction really looks like and so we stay away from it moreso than the whites who were insulated from the entire addiction epidemic of that era. Also, the news told everyone crack was a "black" drug and made black people the poster children of drug addiction where to this day it seems like many people think of someone black when drug addicts are mentioned.
People fail to realize that whites have always had higher drug addiction rates versus blacks. The criminal justice system given a slap on the wrist to whites about this, while overly punishing black users is one of the main contributors to people believing that black people are more criminally prone than whites. All of this is related IMO.
It is also very interesting how white mothers giving birth to meth and heroine addicted babies aren't the subject of daily and weekly news magazine programs like the "crack babies" were back in the 80s. It is very interesting, but it is equally interesting that so many whites don't see it this way.
When whites are addicted they need to be "helped." When blacks are addicted they need to be criminalized and jailed. The only thing people wanted to "do" was lock up black people. IMO they should do the same to whites. It may save their lives. They should take the focus of the drug war off of crack cocaine and increase sentencing of users who have a certain amount or who give birth to addicted babies. It would be interesting to see how crime statistics would reverse if such a change were made.

And , not to claim ignorance, but some people dont know there is no difference between heroin, morphine etc, than to Rx drugs due to different names.

Yeah that's it. Whites are even privileged by premature death. Whites don't have as much money or 'privilege' as they had before. The theory is false.
The privilege is that they are not criminalized like black crack addicts were and black addicts are today.
Another thing that is interesting to me in regards to whites in America is the high use of perscription drugs in your "community." That is why your kids are getting hooked on these narcotics. You put them on all this ADHD meds and anxiety meds and depression meds. They are used to being in a drug induced state. This translates into a higher incidence of becoming addicted to hardcore narcotics later in life. Whites also have higher rates of alcoholism and have for decades, something which is always ignored by the media except when they want to demonize white women who drink and drive with their kids in the car.
