We are still the hook for the Crusades that happened a millennia ago (which is ridiculous)... we don't need to make up situations just for arguments sake. We know many people would love to have a tangible current reason to persecute all of Christianity.
Was Hitler really a Christian? I thought he was more into mysticism, and against organized religion. One thing for sure is that even if he claimed to be a Christian, he was not behaving in a Christian manner. He would never be able to find scripture to condone his policies. When these radical Islamists behead people and kill non-believers, they are actually acting in a way supported by their scriptures.
In practice you are probably right. I believe he referred to Germany as a "Christian nation" at one point. But you're right, his actions were not in keeping with the teachings of Christianity. They were, in fact, in line with Islam.

Yep. Just like Christians ignored the Nazis and did nothing to stop them, allowing the 3rd reich to thrive to this day. Or how Christians do nothing to counter Westboro Baptist Church (while ignoring that the vast majority of the Patriot Guard Riders are in fact Christians). Or how Christians never put abortion clinic bombers in prison.

If the Cologne Sexual Assaults and Rapes had been done by Christians...would Merkel still be ignoring it? Would the press in the EU (as well as this country as far as the MSM is concerned) be refusing to report it?
The press in EU have not ignored it. Why are you under the impression it is being ignored?
You have to remember...when one of the last century's worst atrocities were committed by a self proclaimed Christian, it was largely other Christians that declared war on his movement and utterly destroyed him (not to undermine the Soviet actions). Sadly we see no similar actions on the part of today's Islamists.

Several dozen muslim countries (Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Benin, Turkey, Chad, Togo, Tunisia, Djibouti, Senegal, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Gabon, Guinea, the Palestinians, Comoros, Qatar, Cote d'Ivoire, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Maldives, Mali, Malaysia, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria and Yemen) are fighting ISIS and over 1000 imams have condemned the actions of islamists terrorists.
