But, the government, being the consumer it is, is great at handing out whatever it can print to anyone for a vote.
Old folks are expensive to keep alive to put it bluntly. You don't really seem to understand Medicare or insurance to be honest. Your OP cries about socialism but you seem to know very little about it.

Nat, my point is some barely use it as they are healthy, very healthy. Some use it for major health issues. So does that make sense to you? Some use it to get minor medical, such as colds and maybe something else minor. Some use it for shoulder surgery, heart surgery.., that would be the "MORE".
Now Financially, And again, my point is people put their taxed paychecks into it for decades. So, there is/was allot of money the government collected. If they had invested it into accounts that made interest (however the government does that), then the money would have grown. And after, lets say 30 years of investing, the money would have grown to accommodate medical needs of the people that put into Medicaire.
But, the government too that money instead and played politics with it. Gave to general fund, now also gave to the ACA, and that is how it became a unsustainable account of money. Medicaire could have worked if politicians hadnt squandered the money away. That is what happened to SS. Our government wastes money, and we dont hold them accountable.
