I agree. There are many who are underemployed WRT income (myself included). Education is part of SES. It's one of the things that is considered when determining whether children will be successful so I'd say that someone who is underemployed incomewise is a higher SES than someone with the same income and no education and when it comes to kids SES also needs to factor in security.

I would place the educated poor higher. I'm not sure that those who do the calculations to determine SES would though. I'm looking at this through the lens of teacher and I'd rather have low income kids with educated parents than with uneducated parents. They're easier to teach because they're more willing to learn.

Amen, and who realized clinging to one industry was DUMB.

Poor men have always had a low position in our society, but it seems like it's getting worse.

I not sure it is only a male fail thing, there is also the 80/20 rule. The rule states, 80% of women are only interested in 20% of the men. Dating websites confirm the numbers, the data is solid. So that means it's a mathematical certainty that many women will not find a mate, or will have to settle. I find it hard to believe that 80% of men are only worthy of 20% of the women. Logic would tell us that the women are overly picky, that is until their biological clock begins to tick so loudly that they become more realistic.

I've read that more women are having a harder time finding a man that is willing to get married, and have a family. I don't know what the data is on that, but I tend to believe it. Where does that leave us, women are more demanding than ever, and less men that aren't interested in getting married and having a family.

And where might that be?

The US economy tends to be amongst the best in the world.

Less men and women hooking up, leading to lower birth rates is probably a good thing. This country already has too many people and not enough resources for them all, no sense into bringing more people in this world who will probably spend most of their lives starving!!

I completely agree with you, but the problem is that the entire global economy is based on infinite growth. It's one giant Ponzi scheme.

Unless you're an environmental radical clinging to the belief in some nebulous "greater common good", or have convinced yourself that the supply of resources and knowledge is limited, then global economic and human progress is, in fact, infinite. It's merely a case of determining the direction in which current conditions impel us.

Are you saying that we do not live on a finite planet?

Very interesting...

Men who don't want to get married or raise a family = "Lost"

Women who don't want to do it = liberated & independent.

Women who don't excel academically or professionally can freely receive a myriad of government assistance programs and scholarships to get them where they want to go, if they want to go anywhere at all. = empowered.

Men who have no government assistance programs, and who aren't college educated = "lost"
