After the communist revolution happened in the Russian empire, many Marxists expected that this communist revolution would sweep through all of Europe and then the world. That didn't happen. Some of the leftist intellectuals of the day got together in Frankfurt, Germany to discuss why this didn't happen. They decided that entrenched cultural and social institutions were holding back this revolution and needed to be dismantled. And they knew that dismantling would take decades and that it would have to be done by taking over academia, the media and through politics.

They decided that traditional institutions like religion, marriage and the family unit needed to be destroyed. They also felt that racial and ethnic solidarity were in the way, so they wanted that destroyed as well. They promoted an idea called internationalism, which today we call globalism and multi-culturalism.

The fight against these leftist ideals was one of the main drivers of WW2. The biggest war ever was a battle of nationalism versus internationalism. Nationalism lost. The Frankfurt School won.

What we see today in the West are the consequences of that ideological battle. Even though communism is basically dead as a movement, the Marxist ideals behind it have grown even stronger. The Frankfurt School which originated many of the ideals that have become mainstream in the West isn't widely known today, even among the people who promote those very ideals. These Marxist philosophies have become entrenched and have grown like a cancer in the West. If you oppose the Left and their philosophies, you will called a fascist or a nazi, which shows the roots of the divide from WW2.

You're looking at it backwards.

The West isn't "pressured into being multicultural."

The West is becoming more multicultural because it's the destination of choice for all those fleeing the imploding 3rd world.

No one wants to live in those filthy ratholes. All who can afford to leave are doing so as quickly as they can arrange it.

I agree. But neither you nor I set immigration policy. And America's corporate owners love getting the cheap labor.

Plenty of other societies -outside of those you specifically mention - are already multicultural.

My country of descent is Protestant 32.1%, Roman Catholic 21.6%, Hindu 18.2%, Muslim 5%, Jehovah's Witness 1.5%, other 8.4%, none 2.2%, unspecified 11.1% (2011 est.)

Ethnically, it is South Asian, African, Mixed with smaller groups of East Asian, Syrians & Lebanese etc. All those groups are represented in my family.

*shrug*

Beyond the affluence and opportunity presented in the Western nations mentioned, they have all done much meddling in many other countries. So those people see led of an issue migrating there.

We don't have to. But, with some exceptions, it doesn't hurt.

First, I would point out that Latin America has been very diverse for centuries, more so than the West. Native Americans, Spanish, Portuguese, Africans, Middle Easterners, Asians, etc.

There are several reasons why diversity is so desired by many people, especially left leaning elites. First, they have guilt about what their ancestors did to the rest of the world during colonialization / Indian land theft / African slavery and building a diverse society not White based makes their conscience feel better. Second, non Whites tend to vote 70/30 for one political party. Whites vote 40/60 against that party. It's logical to want to bring in more non Whites to kill off opposing views. Third, people like the variety of foods / music that come from a diverse culture

Uh; you left out the Indians did those same kinds of things to each other before 1492 as well so, it's NOT just a "white" thing. Too; it was def "PC" 500 years ago to pull that kind of stuff, it shouldn't fly in 2016 tho daesh/IS haven't gotten the word yet with THEM trying to take over the Middle East.
