If Trump at least makes the attempt to tighten border security, punishes businesses that use illegal immigrants and stems the tide of exported jobs and work; I would be happy. But we will have to wait and see how this all plays out.

We tried that under Bush... it was called The Virtual Fence. It resulted in thousands of virtual apprehensions... in other words it accomplished absolutely nothing.

Nothing short of a well defended physical barrier is going to stop these people. we had the Secure Fence act in 2007 but that was defunded (naturally). We got about 30 miles of a promised 700 mile fence.

I wonder why cities have levies and sea walls? I guess they should just let the floods happen and pay for all of the repairs later.

This is what we call an "opportunity cost". A wall, despite the cost, will save billions in annual federal support for illegals.
And healthcare!

Built it now and send them all packing!

I doubt you have that many wealthy illegals with property worth enough to build 2 miles of that fence.

Says you. Never said that Mexico itself was dangerous to us but they are encouraging their people to come here illegally. They need to pony up with the U.S. and stop this invasion of our sovereign borders. It wouldn't come down to cutting off aid and trade with them. Once the threat is announced they would comply.

Maybe not but they cost us billions by continuing to come here illegally. That needs to be curbed significantly. Removing the incentives for them to remain here would save us billions a year also.

seriously doubtful. a threat not followed through is meaningless. America would never cut off aid or trade.

Thousands of low riders could pay for a lot of fence.
