In this case of murder and suicide there are some pretty glaring differences wrt overall Black and White statistics. Apparently Whites kill themselves most often and Blacks generally kill each other. It's all bad, but different.

That's about the time we started mass immigration isn't it?

It's not shocking at all if you take the time to understand what is being represented. If you look up in the corner at Wyoming, Montana etc. the map depicts them as having high rates of gun deaths.

These states have the highest rates of gun ownership, they also have the lowest rates of murder by firearm that would be the envy of any state. The gun daths are driven by suicides, accidental shootings and if the data they are using includes all homicides this would also include justifiable homicides both civilian and LE.

Educate yourself on what graphs and numbers represent. They are easily manipulated.

Not to mention that screw-ups by doctors/hospitals kill about 10 times as many each year than guns do.

No kidding. If you deduct gang and criminals killing each other, suicides and accidents violent gun deaths would be down at #100. You would be more apt to get killed by your cat. Actually, if you look at cat allergies and COPD more normal people probably die from inhaling their cat's fur than are killed by guns.

All my firearms sat quietly all day. Not a peep from one of them. What's the real problem?

Suicide is a complex issue.

People who attempt suicide may not intend to commit suicide (I know I used to live with a serial suicider), and if they commit suicide then that is actually an accident not suicide, the intent is to get attention or call attention to their disorders.

Then there are people who intend to commit suicide.

People who don't intend to commit suicide will pick less risky means to kill themselves, horizontal wrist cutting for instance, or overdoses when there are people present or expected to arrive. They would never consider using a gun, because the outcome has a very low probability of survival, and they're not trying to kill themselves.

People who intend to commit suicide pick nearly certain means.

For example Junior Seau his suicide was very deliberate, even to the point he did not typically "blow his brains out", but shot himself in the heart so his brain was intact for study post mortem. Similarly a friend of mine sent his wife and kids on a trip to her parents, waited until they arrived and called to say they were there safely, then took a warm bath with a bottle of scotch and a razor-blade, his time of death was 3:00am, he very deliberately chose not only to send his family away, but selected a time where there was no risk of interruption. In fact if you go over suicides there is a very clear pattern of those intending to commit suicide, and those who rashly or accidentally commit suicide. Those intending show significant forethought and planning to ensure they actually die by preparing days perhaps weeks in advance.

Therefore I would hypothesize that those who fail at suicide are not in fact attempting to kill themselves, but rather crying for help. The intentional suicide is more often than not resigned to the fact that they are beyond help, and the suffering they are enduring is more than they can handle.
