It either needs to be one way for all license or the other. Some licenses, especially those regulating non civil rights, should not have required acceptance over those re civil rights.
The problem is we, as a nation, have decided it best to allow the government to take our rights away and permit them back to us. Most of these licenses are linked to Jim Crow, like marriage licenses were originally to keep black and white people from marrying. Instead of getting rid of an unconstitutional (in my opinion) license to marry another, the government just applied the same licensing scheme to everyone. Ccw licenses are also a hold over from Jim Crow and the worst part is, not even changed to apply equally to everyone. Currently the sheriff (in California) gets to decide who they issue a license to on a whim.
The appropriate solution is to get rid of licenses all together.
Agreed. When we license a right, it becomes a privilege.
So someone kidnaps your daughter and holds her hostage. You want her back and you two "negotiate" a "deal." He gives back your daughter and goes on unpunished; you pay him X amount of money.
That's acceptable?
It would be if that was the only way to get my daughter back. Was the compromise the best deal we (licensed gun carriers) could get? I suspect that it was. But there's no way to know for sure at this point.
Just think, if one state, one county or one city, wanted to restrict our 1th amendment?
Just think, if one state, one county or one city, wanted to restrict our 4th amendment?
Just think, if one state, one county or one city, wanted to restrict our 5th amendment?
Just think, if one state, one county or one city, wanted to restrict our 8th amendment?
Yet, we let them walk all over the 2nd amendment, like it never existed.

Do we let the criminal go free and even have to pay them. You call that a win?

The compromise is better than nothing. The anti-gunners are calling it a sellout for their side. I think we get more than they did. Sometimes you just have to take what you can get and move on.

You never compromise the constitution, Period.
Your safety depends on you. Not government.
