All other suicidal teens, however, as long as they aren't gay, can still get such a referral.
You are over thinking it, they all see the same counselor, there is no reason for special counselors for gays.

Sure, there is. Suppose the school counselor is also a homophobic christian. Would it be fair for a gay kid to be sent to this counselor so he can be taunted further after he's already been taunted by his peers?

What about people born without arms or legs? Doesn't seem like something people would choose. I suppose that's a mental disorder, too.

There are countless traits that people wouldn't choose. That doesn't magically make them mental disorders.
BentBow is clearly just another scientifically ignorant person who makes up whatever he wishes to be true. Facts do not matter. Facts do not penetrate the bubble.
Well hair color, born without legs and such is a physical thing, being attracted to the wrong sex is a mental thing, nothing to hard about that, if you think it is not mental then you are free to post the facts that prove it's not although there is no such proof. You seem to be confused between physical and mental.

Hormones and genetics in combination. Just because we can't see why people are gay doesn't mean it is not for physical, non-mental reasons.

The brain and the way it works are just as physical as arms, legs, and hair. It's controlled by chemistry, connections, and genetics, just like every other part of the body.

Considering how so many gay people have physical characteristics about them that are different...that they've had since before they knew what homosexuality was, should show there is something to it and that it isn't a choice. I believe sexual desire is just a small part of what makes a gay person.

It'a about referrals. Y'know, you go see the counselor/teacher etc. with a problem. Counselor/teacher/trusted adult says "Whoah, more than I can handle, let's get you in touch with someone who's better trained, has more experience, better resources for your specific issue." Now, that's a pretty good system. That's a system that reduces suffering, improves the chances for reasonably well-adjusted young adults.

And then a "small-government" Republican tries to make sure that for a specific subset of problems - those having to do with sexuality - this simple helpful act should be outlawed.

I see that as pretty much indefensible.

Please do post evidence supporting that.

Or would you have us believe people are also taught to be hetero?

I don't know about you but I didn't need any teaching to find women attractive and desirable.

There is no gene... It is taught.

The bad gene gets culled from dog breeding by selective breeding.
Gays do not breed, unless they are not actually gay, but Bi-sexual.

It is a choice, that is decided after being shown.
