Chicago records 51 homicides in January, highest toll since 2000

51 vs. only 29 in Jan. 2015.

But, " the police department pushed back against the notion that the rise in homicides could be due to cops becoming less aggressive due to the negative attention the department has received" since the Rahm Emmanuel coverup.

However, "The department says it has seen a decrease in investigative stops by cops on the streets after new rules went into effect Jan. 1 requiring the police department to bolster the monitoring of stops and protective pat downs known as "stop-and-frisk."

The police department entered an agreement with the American Civil Liberties Union to record contact cards for all street stops .." That from the Police Department doublespokesman.

Thanks ACLU. With friends like that who needs enemies?

Finally, "St. Louis saw a dramatic increase in the number homicides following the August 2014 police shooting death of Michael Brown in nearby Ferguson, which spurred months of angry protests. And Baltimore saw a spike in homicides following the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore in April.."

So it's obviously a coincidence.

If it keeps going up, eventually all the gangbangers will be dead.

That tide might be going out.

More people were murdered last year than in 2014, and no one’s sure why
"The number of homicides in the country’s 50 largest cities rose nearly 17 percent last year, the greatest increase in lethal violence in a quarter century"

They are getting them from Indiana.

This Is How Chicago Gets Flooded With Illegal Guns - Mic

And yes, police morale now is low in the CPD. I'm good friends with a Chicago detective who said that exactly this, a spike in violence will occur after all the negative press in the last couple of months. Just wait until the hot weather hits this summer and all the losers are out on the streets.

Over at progressive HQ they are smiling. "Let them eat lead" is their mantra.

I was just scanning the thread, waiting on someone to blame the weather. EVERY single time this topic comes up, somebody from Chicago blames the weather.

Only in Chicago have I ever heard anyone blame the weather for murders.

Oddly enough, things DO get hot in other parts of the country, but people don't suddenly start shooting each other. Which leads me to believe that maybe it isn't Chicago's weather that is driving this.
