The man continues to show what a moron he about the economy (among so many topics). The money people save in fuel costs are reinvested in the economy in other areas providing a massive stimulus. Without low fuel prices the economy under his watch would look like even more of a disaster.

Why shouldn't commuter rail be paid for by commuter rail users?
Those who decide to not have kids should be able to opt out of the part of their taxes that pays for schools?
Someone in the city that walks or rides a bike should be able to opt out of the part of their taxes that pay for roads?
The point being, this is how a society works.
sticking up people and making them pay for things they never use or benefit from is "how society works" lol okay
I think you should pay my mortgage. Hey I like this society stuff!
The money wouldnt go to Republicans.. it would go to government.. yet another tax that will be passed onto the consumer to pay..
Oil companies would pay the fee, which would be gradually introduced over five years. The government would use the proceeds to fund high-speed railways, autonomous cars and other travel systems, aiming to reduce emissions from the U.S. transportation system.
Why are we funding autonomous cars. Let manufacturers figure that out.
That's like proposals to fix roads to accommodate autonomous cars. No, make the autonomous cars accommodate the roads. I don't need to subsidize Googles "free enterprise"

When you have something to actually say, I will listen.
Sorry, the oil companies mainly contribute to Republicans. The $10 tax, at a time when oil prices are at modern day lows, is a good thing to keep the incentive to conserve fossil fuels and stimulate renewable energy. The last time the gas tax was raised was 1993 -- to 18.4 cents per gallon of gasoline.
Excuse me but the gas tax around here is close to 60 cents a gallon. Besides, why doesn't he raise this tax instead of inventing a brand new tax? Past experience has shown that a few cents per gallon is not going to make drive less.
