Well actually, the fact that both parties did it has always been part of the discussion. The fact that Colin Powell openly did it and says this is a non issue and no Republican said anything shows the bias on this situation, and proves you guys are only doing this to attack Hillary Clinton.
While this is lovely and there's been multiple other threads on the matter, what's the deal with this childishness? Whenever it looks like a Dem is in hot water over something, the ever so predictable response is, "But the Republicans did it too!! No fair!!" Hearkens ever so much to, "But mommy, Billy did it too! Waaahhh!!!"
Who cares if Republicans did it too?? If they did something bad, they should be investigated. If they're guilty of breaking the law, throw their asses in jail. What has that got to do with Hillary's guilt or the lack thereof?
And yes, Republicans do the same thing when the roles are reversed. It's just as stupid then.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that while Powell used a private email, it went through a government server.

Does not work that way. And there is no particular truth that gvernment servers were more secure than private servers. There were certainly divorced goverment nets that were more secure...but .gov is a standard internet server...and knowing that the government was not particularly good at avoiding breeches there is no reason to presume it was more secure.
I'm willing to bet Clinton's server was far more secure than Government servers at this point...It's also evident..that no body in the public..let alone hackers were even aware of a Private Server of the Clinton's Hindsight and judgement is always 100%, eh?
Based on what? The word of the kid from Best Buy that set it up?
Washington (CNN)Colin Powell and top staffers for Condoleezza Rice received classified information through personal email accounts, according to a new report from State Department investigators ... The information was deemed either "secret" or "confidential," according to the report.
The operative word here is RECEIVED. Not one mention of a retransmit or storage ... unlike billary. This is akin to getting a wrong number call on your cell phone and then get in trouble because of the idiot that called you.
This is a nonstory.

Hillary's 20 emails - sent or received?
Did Powell report the classified emails as required?
Did Powell report the classified emails as required?
So let me understand where you're going with this.
If Republicans admit that Powell and Rice were wrong and agree to them being investigated, prosecuted and punished accordingly as needed ... then you'll admit that Hillary Clinton was criminally irresponsible with the handling of sensitive government data, certainly shouldn't be elected president and likely will have to go to jail for a bit.
Sound about right? If yes, good on ya! If no, why are you bringing it up at all?
Did Powell report the classified emails as required?
Hillary now has roughly 1,600 emails that either the State Dep't. or other agencies believe contained info that should have been classified. The number will increase when the next batch is released. Powell had two.
I suppose she, you, and others can claim that she's being victimized by inter-agency disputes and bureaucrats. imo, most impartial people will look at that number and surmise that her staff was sending her classified info on her personal server and either 1) she didn't care, or 2) she had a very bad sense of what her own and other agencies considered classified.
Regardless, she's safe from indictment, though one or two of her staff might get slapped on the wrist.
Gimme a break. They broke the law. They are supposed to use government email for government business.
People get fired in the corporate world for doing what these people think is "the norm".
But then again, these people also think the laws are not made for them. The laws are made for the "little people".
How would they or Clinton know? The emails were not marked as classified and both Powell and Clinton say the subject matter of these supposedly classified emails was so vague, general and in public circulation that they would not have questioned it.
So the 29 deemed to be top secret will be released to the public because they are "vague, general and in public circulation"?
