Back in 2013 Trump stated that we should stay out of Syria, now he's claiming this current action by Syria is on Obama and he was weak. Missing from his statement was any blame on Russia, he seemed to criticize Obama more than Assad for the chemical attack.

Sometimes it looks like Trump's whole purpose and mission as a president is to badmouth Obama as a payback for Obama poking fun at him at the press correspondents dinner. Trump is a mean, spiteful little man who cares nothing about facts or the Syrian people.

It does.

When something as tragic as this happens, our first reaction shouldn't be who to blame but how to help.

Who cares what Trump stated in 2013. He was not a politician, he was simply an everyday person with an opinion based on partial information just like anyone else. We are now seeing a repeat of what Saddam Hussein did in his own country back in 1988 in which the US did nothing then. Iran is Syria supplier. Russia is simply their door to door salesman.

Government media is alleging a scenario similar to the 2013 Ghouta chemical attack. Civilians may have been rounded up from nearby Majdal and Khattab to be subjected to nerve gas . Majdal was recently captured by the opposition, while Khattab was captured by the Syrian army. Sy Hersh article pointed out that the forensics in the 2013 attack showed that the the shells and nerve agents weren't military grade and that the nerve agents had been sourced from an industrial facility in Turkey.

chemical weapons attack

The government confirms the area was hit by an air strike which was targetting a weapons factory. Another scenario is that nerve gas cannisters were among the destroyed munitions. It's unlikely imo.

Now no, too little too late. Let the EU and the UN deal with it.

He wasn't just an everyday person, he was at one time considering running for office in 2012 and prior years. Assad's current actions make Hussein look like a piker.

So Trump is president now, what's he proposing other than outrage, No Fly Zones, sanctions, more troops on the ground, arming the rebels or just nothing. If he's just throwing words around he could have at least criticized Russia along with Assad.

The US is carving out territory in NW Syria. See Al-Raqqah and land north and west which has most of the fertile agricultural land in Syria.

It also has the Shadadi and Omar oil fields.

Islamic State says seizes second gas field in Syria | Reuters

US military has been systematically destroying bridges crossing the Euphrates River in order to isolate the territory from the rest of Syria.

The obvious goal has been to create a self-sufficient (autonomous) area for the Kurds and the Sunni tribes from Iraq which has political support from UAE, KSA, Qatar, and Turkey to a lesser degree.

Obama wanted to go to war( being the good little puppet he was) but Congress refused bowing to the will of the American people who said forget it, no war in Syria.
We're better off not getting involved in that phony war and we'd be better off following the money trail of who financed ISIS and who pushed the propaganda to drag us into it. BTW, I'm hearing that it the rebels used the gas as much as Assad did. He's bad but I get the feeling that those who want him out are way way worse. And I don't mean ISIS, I mean the ones pulling their strings.
