Well, I was born in the US, but my grandparents are from Russia. I have studied this at length and it is true that most are in New York, and other NE locations, but surprisingly, Washington State also has a strong Russian population. There used to be a few good Russian restaurants in the Seattle area, but that was years ago. Someone can update.

I am not an expert, but I think the advancements into the Ukraine are misguided, as these countries, IMO, can exist on their own. I believe it is Russia trying to make up for its loss of power over the past 27 years. But re-reading your original question, you probably don't care about my opinion. I hope you get more native Russians to respond, but I wouldn't count on it. But thanks for an interesting thread.
