I think it will help the Republican candidates for President if Obama nominates a Justice (as long as the Senate does not consent). Let American see the liberals that Obama nominates so they can see who Hillary or Sanders will nominate. That will make voters realize how important it is to elect a Republican.

Obama installed a Mexican and a Lesbian. The next nominee would probably be a transgendered, illegal immigrant, Muslim. That would be perfect.
And what would be wrong with that.

He should nominate Tom Hanks. Everybody likes Tom Hanks. He is like Oprah before her head started swelling.

Senate better delay. If they don't reject, it'll be hell to pay. Obama already has two, anyway. That's more than enough that favor some of his bad policies. And especially when he had no problem rejecting another Bush appointment.

Maybe they should see who the nominee is before they delay, wouldn't that be a more rational not to mention mature decision.

No president has ever appointed more than 2 justices, is there some type of cap rule because it hasn't been honored in the past. You know the SCOTUS made decisions that were more conservative and not by just one vote but the glass is always half empty.

We have three Supreme Justices now who are getting up there in age---one will be 80 in July, another will be 83 in March and one, 78 in August. If we postpone Scalia's replacement that would be four nominations that will likely come from one president. Are you so sure a Republican will be elected and Congress will remind in Republican control that you're willing to gamble on an opportunity to have a meaningful say in Scalia's replacement? Let the system work the way it's suppose to. People keep complaining about the do-nothing Congress and yet you're right their encouraging them not to do the jobs our constitution requires of them.

The US will not fall apart if a Justice isn't appointed before Obama leaves.

Are you reading tea leaves or something ?

We don't have 4 nominations. Just one. The other aren't dead.

Life will continue on and the other 8 will do a great job.
Obama will nominate, Senate will ponder his decision for many months.

Then President Trump, Cruz or Clinton will nominate the one who is selected.
