Some propaganda from the other side of the argument. And its mostly false. Just like most of this thread is mostly false too.

Bottom line for those too lazy to research, and who do not know anyone from there. Venezuela has some issues, they're not going to collapse, or starve, the lines are not as bad as depicted. Really whats hosing them the worst is oil prices. But of course posters here want to make it about socialism. Because they somehow think the left is all about that, and they can't comprehend the difference between socialism, and democratic socialists for example.

Has Socialism affected them? Somewhat. But its certainly not the primary cause. Oddly enough its also done some pretty good things for them as well. Tradeoffs. Some obviously good things, and some obviously dumb things. While Chavez was good at handling them, his successor obviously is not. And thats not a surprise really.
Too bad I can't blink my eyes and transport all you whining, ungrateful leftists to Venezuela for a 5-year experience.
Maybe then you'd see how stupid you seem to others.

Too bad you can't see the cause of their problems, this isn't a left or right issue as far as our country but let no opportunity go by.

It already did. Chavez saved them! (lol)

Ever read up on the Cuban revolution? Whatever happened to their first president after the revolution?

Hint: His name wasn't Castro.

After that, go read a copy of Animal Farm...or at least read the plot summary on-line.

The cause of their problems is that they went from a corrupt capitalist leadership to a corrupt socialist leadership that funded it's programs not by building the economy but by seizing assets and giving out "free stuff" around election times.

Now the economy is in ruins and it's not just the oil prices.

Basically the lesson is pretty clear that you need a balance between the wealth generated by capitalism with social programs that don't strangle the producers and don't kill initiative in recipients.

People pay to much attention to what politicians say and not v what they do. Of course, bribing the populace with some short term gifts, has always worked.

Oil prices have been low for a few months. Venezuela has been on a downbound train since electing Chavez. It takes awhile for Leftists to drive the population to extreme scarcity, but they always do.

Not a chance in hell the DNC will ever allow someone who's working for the people to win the nomination. You'll get Hillary or someone of her corrupt ilk & love it.

Mmhm, because this is exactly the situation in places like Denmark, Holland, and Australia right?

(Mind you, these are not even remotely purely socialist countries, but a lot of conservatives will call them that anyway just because they're not run as much on capitalist Darwinism as the US is.)

well, you'd have to be stupid to think that the American left was like the Venezuelan left.

It would be like saying : " Since the Nazis were right-wing, therefore American right-wingers should go live in Nazi Germany for 5 years to see how you like it. Then you'd see how stupid you seem to others. "

As much as I don't like right-wingers, as a whole I wouldn't assume you were all Nazis just because you lean right. We're still all Americans, who largely believe in the constitution, democracy, and markets.

I suggest that you go back to your link, and click on the "About Us" icon. It will provide some information on who is contributing to and maintaining Venezuelanyalysis.com.

They make a strong attempt to dismiss the reporting of CNN, NYT and BBC, but I'll take those news sources over your little socialist kiddie sources, thanks.
