Again, bypassing the feature makes decrypting the phone a trivial matter. It's an integral part of the encrytping feature, otherwise you need a huge password.

I'm sure that once the hack is figured out, the FBI can also figure out how to install it remotely. Or use the new found knowledge of the hack to determine other ways to compromise the phone and get what they want. Its a slippery slope and the only objective is to make sure nobody has any level of privacy.

That's not the point! The point is whether you want YOUR data available to hackers and/or foreign governments. You're good with that? Because once Apple develops the code to break into your phone, it *will* escape. You can bank money on that.

Looks like the government botched this up and now want Apple to fix a problem THEY CREATED.
Who the heck would change the password and why ?

iPhone passcode changed in government possession
A passcode to the iPhone the FBI wants Apple to hack to gain information about one of the San Bernardino, Calif., terrorists was changed less than a day after the government gained possession of it, Apple executives said in a phone briefing with reporters Friday afternoon.
..
It is unclear who changed the Apple ID passcode while it was in the government’s possession, the executive said.
..
Apple sent engineers to try that method, but was unsuccessful, Apple said. That was when it was discovered the Apple ID passcode of shooter Syed Rizwan Farook's iPhone 5c had been changed under government custody.

From an LA Times article:

Apple and feds reveal San Bernardino shooter's iCloud password was reset hours after attack

But one of the most encouraging options was ruled out because within 24 hours of the shooting rampage, the phone’s owner — possibly gunman Syed Rizwan Farook’s employer, the San Bernardino County public health department — reset the password to Farook’s iCloud account to access data from the backup, according to Apple and federal officials.

That means the iCloud password on the iPhone itself is now wrong, and it won’t back up unless someone can get past the phone’s passcode and change it.

The issue was discovered after Apple engineers sent to Southern California to work with the FBI struggled to trigger an automatic backup, Apple said. When iCloud is enabled, iPhones automatically sync with the cloud if they are charging and are connected to a familiar Wi-Fi network.

In order to do that Apple has to write software they don't have. You're okay with the government for a private company to invent something? Once this software is invented it will work on any iOS device. What's to stop hackers for getting ahold of this software. Every Tech site stands with Apple. Only people that don't fully understand the situation stand with the FBI.

After reading responses like yours I'm closer to giving up all hope for man kind. Your statement along lets me know you don't fully grasp the issue. Please go visit a few tech sites.

Heck, a new memo is showing that the government is requesting this software that it wants Apple to invent to work over wifi or Bluetooth.

The government wants to hack into your phone even if they don't possess it.

Yes in cases of national security. You can't try and honestly tell me this isn't a national interest due to the mass murder and radicalized nature of this case. This is where the Civil liberties of the collective is greater than the Civil liberties of the one, who I might add is actually dead. The FBIis trying to profile for future cases.

Thrown in jail, for refusing to be a slave to the federal government.

I wish you were in bondage and forced.
