They don't want people using the ground as a bathroom, and then have the human waste pollute nearby properties when it rains because the rain spreads the germs. This could contaminate local waterways too which might be used as a source for drinking water and also the local fisheries would be contaminated and people wouldn't want to swim in the waterways due to high bacteria from human waste and risk of disease. Also nearby wells would be impacted so neighbors might not be able to use their well water. The smell would be bad.
What if all your neighbors starting using the bathroom outside all the time? It would be a health hazard. Now what if some of those people have diseases such as Hepatitis and can it be spread through human waste. And then it rains and it spreads into your back yard. And you smell it from your house when you open your windows.
Thankfully wild animals have been trained to use the porta-potties instead of the ground. Can you imagine the horror?!

Doesn't it all end up back into the earth no matter if its sewer, outhouse or septic? And animal waste from deer, moose, dogs, cats. A lot of that doesn't even get thrown away. If these people are living out in the country on acreage, would that really be an issue?

You dig a hole in the ground, build a rock wall around the outside. Backfill around the outside of the wall with small stones.
Mother nature does the rest, bacteria will eat the solids. The water drains through the rock. With proper care such as allowing as little water into sytem, no oil/grease, no harsh chemicals like bleach and keeping the solids to a minimum it can last an indefinite amount of time.

People have used septic systems for decades and they are very effective.
When will the government decide that the bathroom in your house will require a pay door ? Like pay toilets in public bathrooms. That's an idea that might not be to far down the road. Lets give it a fancy name like Obamacare. Call it the excrement tax and hope it's not confused with a private property tax. This s**t has to be regulated and you need to be regular.

These are apparently people living in campers and temporary structures, not real houses or alternative constructin like earthships. Just basically a homless camp on their own land. That reduces property values.

here in the us vi most residences use septic tanks and have cisterns for water use. most septic tanks here are concrete boxes with a gravel drain field, that's it simple solution.cisterns are the same just bigger concrete boxes usually placed under ground, just don't make a mistake and hook up the septic tank pipe the cistern intake pipe
