What would be a better way other than having them producing as many kids as possible? As for the country and the poor people, Democrats have never given a crap about that.
I think the Dems like keeping their people stupid along with dependent on living on as little as possible to get by. The weird part people actually think they have no way out, but to accept being poor to stay a democrat.

If welfare were a fixed amount per family like SS payments, people would think twice before breeding more mouths to feed.

Tell that to the Government who is lax on immigration laws. They will find their workforce, their voters and their tax paying citizens. Don't give birth to them; the Government will import them in.

Soon there will be a huge, the biggest depletion of population and workers in the U.S. that has ever been seen before, as the baby boomers are aging out of the workforce and dying out of existence.

But see here's the thing. People think that if they get the public assistance taken off the table, their taxes will decrease. Did you know that the number one employer in the U.S. is the Government. Taxes pay their pensions, their health benefits and their paycheck. When Government employs more people than the private sector, how can the Government be supported? Increase taxes on the private sector workers, who are fewer than who the Government employs.

Debits and credits ... taxes will never decrease; the war on poor people needs to stop.

As countries get wealthier, birth rates tend to decline.

US birth rates have been declining since the early 1800's with a few temporary spikes, ala baby boom.

The movie "Idiocracy" starring Luke Wilson explored this concept in a funny way. The highly educated couple in the movie was debating on whether to even raise one child and the low wage workers were reproducing at a much higher rate with the IQ of the average person decreasing over time, hence the movie title.
Why do those who are poor keep having children they can't afford? Because the GOP keeps cutting funding to planned parenthood.

During the recession birth rates declined for women ages 15 - 40. Economics does factor into the decision making process of getting married, beginning a family and even teenage pregnancies dropped off.
