I'm glad that so far they aren't putting Triclosan in dishwashing liquid.

My auto mechanic uses dishwashing liquid to wash his greazy grimy hands.

No matter how complex and no matter how MAJOR these issues are, they had better be solved. And soon. It is unconscionable to kill people and then bill their next of kin for tens of thousands of dollars. The Third World does much better with respect to hospital acquired infections. Interesting that. I think this whole thing would be solved, and quickly too, if we had legislation that forbade compensating any hospital for their costs in treating a patient that expired, for any reason.

I was mostly referring to office (business) settings. Thanks for the update however. More knowledge is always best!
I wish you could see, how many people (men and women) leave the rest rooms without washing their hands!

We discussed it at work, and I work in a setting where thousands of other people work, it is amazing how sloppy some of these college students can be...and they are using the microwave, the refrig, everything, and for a while, they were not cleaning our bathrooms properly....but enough people complained that yesterday and today, they were much better.

People in one department were getting sick all winter long, so they had the candy dish tested, and it was full of bacteria. I won't eat anything that anyone brings from home...and neither will some other people due to the lack of personal hygiene.

I realize that...

I'm just saying from observation over the past 10 years, maybe more....

Office Buildings and so forth, due to cut backs are not as conscience about cleaning conference rooms and public areas....

Years ago, they had cleaners cleaning these areas every single day...not any more....

We have public kitchen areas at work, and one morning I spilled water on the counter and wiped it up....the paper towels were very dirty...eeewwwwww.....

When exiting a public rest room after washing and drying your hands, open the door with a paper towel.

Block the door open with your foot, while you throw the paper towel in the trash receptacle.

If the trash receptacle is covered, just throw the towel at it, or on the floor.

Trash receptacles should not have to be touched to rid a towel.

This also provides additional job security for janitors.

Listen, I have written, taught, and spoken extensively about infection control, antibiotic resistance, overuse of antibiotics on humans and livestock, etc. I did my doctoral capstone project on it. These issues can't just be "solved" overnight. People WILL die in hospitals. People are being treated for incredibly complex illnesses and being kept alive longer than ever before, using unprecedented technology and medical innovation. I invite anyone to go to a third world nation and go on ECMO for 2 months so they can bridge to a heart transplant. There are thousands of very smart people working continuously to improve the medical system and solve these issues...it is very disheartening when people who are totally unfamiliar with the healthcare industry bluntly blame employees for "staff infections" and other wrong-goings in medicine.

There are just two kinds of people in this world -

Those who wash their hands BEFORE touching their privates (conservative); and

Those who wash their hands AFTER touching their privates (liberal).

Well, there is a THIRD, rare and exotic kind of person, one who washes its hands BEFORE, AND AFTER, it touches its private parts. (libertarian)

You think I live in a closet? Lol I see people not wash their hands all the time. All I can do is try and not eat after them.
