What upsets me is knowing some Hispanic Couples who have lived in this Country for over 20 years, yes I said 20. Yet hardly no a lick of English.

And there children have to translate for them, that drives me crazy. I am sorry but when anyone lives in a Country for 20 years, you better learn the language of the Country you are in. Speak your own language, but please stop being lazy.

If it is not lazy, what do you call it.

Years and years ago, while traveling to different Countries, I sure as hell do not remember these Countries, making it easy on Americano's you have to learn some of the basic before your trip that was just normal.

As time went on yes some Countries, people spoke broken English but still feel American's were not being cater too, and why should we while visiting other Countries. Common sense dictates, before your trip, your going to learn and take lessons before your trip so you do understand and can communicate. That is not being lazy.

Things are different now in a lot of Countries I know this.

This is still America and nothing should be dicated to people because living in this Country, they ought to learn English, that is just common sense. They can speak their own language, but for goodness sakes learn English.

I think it is ridiculous knowing Hispanic Couples who have lived in this Country for 20 years that still cannot speak English, there children have to translate to them, not lazy, what do you call it.

sorry but not all can do language as adults-- how many can you learn? knew a Cuban lady- a college grad- came to the US- lost her mom all kinds of terrible things happened-- not on her life could he ever learn English or drive- nice lady- smart--but-- NO-- Many people come here lacking the education to even attempt a new language- not so easy-- You go learn Chinese already--
in my high school we had Spanish, French or Latin- I chose Latin - think I remember any of it? some can do it and do--but not all- i do not look down on them.

That's not uncommon among a great many first-generation immigrants. I knew a Ukrainian woman (the mother of a boss of mine) who'd lived in the US for fifty years and died not knowing a lick of English.

And that's the point.

I know in San Clemente I have to say for the most part, I hear English being spoken. But when I visit other Counties I do have to say, some of the areas, you only hear Spanish I think it depends on the area and County that you live in. But I do believe you believe me.

In Riverside County and some high desert regions and S.B. County I also hear a lot of Spanish being spoken but a good majority of the people living in those areas are Hispanic.

But cannot get customer service these days if you life depended on it, without first hearing press 1 for Spanish 2 for English and most customer service agents, hardly speak English.

Sorry I do not care who you are if I cannot understand you, I need someone else, and not trying to be mean, but some of these people I can hardly understand.

Who's dictating? I am merely pointing out that it is rude under certain circumstances. People can choose to be rude if they want to but don't expect others to like it.

It's only rude if a person is speaking directly to you & they refuse to speak English. In any other instance, it's a non-issue. And you know it.

What's also irritating is when they know how to speak English but won't unless they have to.

Agree, everyone else has. I say do this or make both languages standard and taught to all in school
