Many of us are fed up with corporate America and their greed, so what do we do about corporate charities? My biggest beef is with United Way. I believe United Way is a scam and a fraud. More or less, the UW charges donors to redistribute funds to real charities. They keep those funds and earn money on the interest for months before sending the money to charities.

How do we stop the corruption and fraud at the national and local levels?

The following explains it better than I can, and deals with national issues as well as a United Way local to me.

Send your contributions to small local charities, problem solved.

I do, but I am talking about a larger scale. The United Way in general gives some smaller (and larger) charities the bait and switch by promising them donations and having them sign a contract stating the charities cannot fund raise during the annual United Way campaign (Sept-Dec) each year. After the contract is signed the United way decreases funding, but the smaller charities are expected to discontinue fundraising during those months, making it difficult for those charities.

I will post my link again since it did not work last time. It is a good read and an eye opener to the corruption.
