Seems like the proper thing to do for a Nobel Peace Prize winner.

I guess US officials saw the force of the Russian military and what they did to ISIS and had an "OH SH*T" moment.
Now the scramble to beef up Europe to ward off the "Russian invasion" ....

LOL

I have a stupid question! Why not let Europe increase their military spending in their own country's? Makes sense to me!

Meanwhile the Europeans continue to invest their tax dollars into their own countries since the US loves to police their backyards for them.

WASHINGTON — President Obama plans to substantially increase the deployment of heavy weapons, armored vehicles and other equipment to NATO countries in Central and Eastern Europe, a move that administration officials said was aimed at deterring Russia from further aggression in the region. The White House plans to pay for the additional weapons and equipment with a budget request of more than $3.4 billion for military spending in Europe in 2017, several officials said Monday, more than quadrupling the current budget of $789 million. The weapons and equipment will be used by American and NATO forces, ensuring that the alliance can maintain a full armored combat brigade in the region at all times.
.
.
But outside analysts were surprised by the magnitude of the increase in military funding for Europe, which is part of an overall budget request of $580 billion for the Pentagon. Mr. Obama, according to a defense official, is also going to ask Congress for a 35 percent increase — $7 billion — to fight Islamic State militants.
That is surprising. And confusing. I mean it's not like Europe is doing much of anything to defend themselves, it's senseless that we would spend more.

Nor am I entirely sure what we're defending them from.

Nice to know that despite taking home only 60% of my salary, Mack Daddy Sam extorted $3,000 more from me so that America can effectively polish a new badge as Officer Earth.

I support removing all troops from Europe and anywhere else not the USA and letting those countries fend for themselves. We would save a ton by doing so plus not be committed to fighting wars we have no business to be involved in.

Isn't it about time that Europe pony up? They are way too dependent upon us for military protection and we foot a big portion of this bill.

Where is it written in the constitution that the U.S. military is to protect the borders of other sovereign nations?
