The City of Cleveland is being forced to purchase riot gear ahead of the Republican Convention this summer.

Cleveland seeking to buy riot gear for Republican National Convention | cleveland.com

I doubt the Democratic Convention will require that level of security and hardware. I don't understand why liberals are always so violent and in-your-face about protests.

Dear Mr VTHokieFan:

Which "liberals" are you referring to? The term Liberal is derived from "Liberty" or generous, unrestricted, unimpeded; unbridled, . To be liberal is to allow and permit; to expand rather than limit. Conservative is to Conserve or Save. It seeks to maintain that which is traditional and the status quo. for myself, I like a LIBERAL shot of tequila in my Margaritas in order to CONSERVE the mixer and I favor CONSERVING my energy for boating and fishing and not wasting it on "violent and in-your-face protests". Incidentally, one of the most violent Democratic Conventions was in Chicago 1968 where police and national guard were used to disburse protesters and rough up journalists including Mike Wallace, Dan Rather and Edwin Newman.

In general, Liberals are more motivated by emotion than Conservatives. Its why they're so much more likely to angrily or violently protest -- their emotions are running wild and they're less likely to make rational arguments or choices.

As I mentioned before, student protesters blocked off the entrance to Ben Shapiro's lecture at CSULA's campus because they didn't think he should have the right to speak, nor should anyone else have the right to hear him speak. Police were required to escort Shapiro and bring people into the hall from the back entrance, as they physically blocked it off. In their protest, they not only groped and threw around a deaf girl who tried to enter through their blockade, they also knocked another man to the ground multiple times for trying to get to his speech, regardless that this guy was an Atheist Liberal who wanted to challenge Shapiro during his speech.

They're so ruled by emotion, that they'll beat up one of their own without giving them a chance to explain.

Probably a good idea. Given all the leftist dipsh*ts that come out to protest and all too often attack those at Conservative events it's probably prudent to be prepared. They will need it if BoweL Movement shows up.

Doubt it's the conservatives that they're getting ready for. Rather, the libs that will show up and protest violently, I'm thinking.

They need to be prepared for Trump supporters when the GOP yanks the nomination from him.

It's like they're holding the convention in an Oregon bird sanctuary.
