Well, mostly true conservatives.

He resonates with liberals when he lashes out.

Very true. They also assume that bigger is better. Our fed spends the mint on our Military. I am a vet and support outfitting our troops with the very best hardware that money can buy. I want our troops to have the highest ability to not only survive, but lowest risk of injury.
A 13 billion dollar carrier?
The F-35?
2 examples of spending gone crazy.
I don't blame it all on the military. In fact I blame 95% of it on our elected reps who use the military budget for their pet pork projects.
Military golf courses.
Green Zones: A Map of the US Military's Golf Courses | Mother Jones
No lets be real here. Your average E-3 isn't the beneficiary of these perks. 194 estimated golf courses!!!!
I am all for giving our soldiers, sailors and Marines recreational facilities. I simply question the bang for the buck when it comes to golf courses. It seems like a ton of money is spent to facilitate those at the very top.
Back on topic.
We have socialist programs. All countries do. The real question is how much should the productive members of society be expected to pony up for the less and non-productive members?
For example what is the return on paying for 500 people to have art majors or go for their masters?
Medical doctors? Yeah if we have them repay the gift thru community service in the form of free clinics here in our own country.
Education should be an absolute priority. Trade schools seem to be overlooked as if only college degrees mean anything.
Immigration. We are a nation of immigrants. The needs have evolved. We really do need to be more selective. We can't afford the burden of over 50% of immigrants receiving some form of financial aid.

I look really funny when I grump - but, hey, so does Trump!

It makes him soo . . lovable.

I'm not much of a grumper, myself.

I think it's something you have to work at.

I think Trump is a very hard worker.

I'd say we're turning into more of a welfare state than socialist.

35% of all the people living in the US are on one or more welfare programs (US Census Bureau).

What's being considered a welfare program though? Are things like SS and UI counted?

No. SS, medicare and UI are not social welfare programs.
UI is supported by employers.
SS and medicare are paid for via FICA.
