Today CNN lauds a new study by Bindu Kalesan, an anti-gun Boston University researcher which states that just 3 new gun laws could cut firearms deaths by more than 90%. These laws are:
Universal background checks for firearm purchases
Background checks on ammunition purchases
"Ballistic fingerprinting" for firearm identification
Meanwhile the Washington Post says there are deep problems with the study, quoting David Hemenway, professor of health policy at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and Daniel Webster, director of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Center for Gun Policy & Research.
It's proof that any agenda can be supported through ideology based research.
I think therefore it is.
The biggest problem with these gun haters is they use statistics of people who are law abiding, while completely ignoring that criminals will be unaffected by these three tenants.
Amazing to think that people that stupid can actually write an article.
The one thing that would help is to put criminals in prison and actually KEEP THEM THERE. Enough of the revolving door justice system. Mandatory 10 year sentence with no parole for burglary or car theft, 20 years for armed robbery or any violent crime.
Next best thing-arm the good guys.
about 20 years ago we had a DA here in arizona that tried a unique approach to dealing with car theft. he surmised that since the automobile is the modern horse, then horse theft laws should apply to those convicted of auto heft, which in arizona meant that the sentence would be death by hanging. unfortunately the courts didnt see it that way.

Another wackamole DA using obscure laws in a modern world. It's the other way around here in the Peoples Republic of California... where if the auto thief is Hispanic it's the car owners fault for parking in the wrong place.

Stupid study by unknown moron. Doesn't merit a response.

What about the 4th one and very important one, build the WALL! If they can go out, they can come in along with people who will use them on US citizens. Tighten the restrictions here and they'll come through the border just like the people.
The problem with the current study, Webster said, is that it compared the number of deaths between all states, which could vary in many more ways than the authors accounted for, such as differences in culture, race and ethnic makeup, poverty rates and access to mental health care.

"Not surprisingly, the findings don't make much logical sense when it comes to gun policies other than the finding that universal background checks are protective," Webster said. For example, it is not clear why there would be such a large association, as the study found, between firearm identification laws and reductions in gun-related deaths, he added.
Kalesan used skewed numbers to formulate the product she wanted. Completely dishonest, and even left wing media is questioning it.
Most laws are irrelevant to actual criminals. That's what makes them criminals.
Is it your contention we should simply have no laws, since criminals don't obey them?
Such a knucklehead argument from the left....
How about enforce current laws? How about that? Better?
