Most of the polls were correct, actually. They said Hillary would win the popular vote, which she did. If you look at the margin of error in the states where Trump won by less than 1%, the polls were still mostly correct. He got lucky, really.

it looks like the claim that "20,000 or something" were turned away is false. the local news reported there were still seats available in the upper levels and makes no mention of anyone being turned away.
