The problem with that is you could cut all military spending, and that still would not cover the costs of a universal healthcare system.

After 2015 the remaining Co-ops expect to make profit. Capitalism at its best only the strong survive.

Just like most business in the USA.

This was a repair created by the medical community, not a partisan effort by any means.

EMTALA is necessary to protect the public at large. And in fact it protects the hospitals themselves.

One error in denying emergency treatment to a patient could easily result in a mega-million dollar suit against a hospital.

Well, show us the proof of this where all the remaining Co-ops are going to make a profit.

If there's one thing about Trump that I stand behind, it's doing away with all state borders and restrictions to insurance companies to compete head to head. If there is any way to save healthcare in the U.S. it's with CAPITALISM and competition. Get the bought out government insiders out of picture.

The only problem with that is the insurers would likely go and chose to go to states with the lowest restrictions. Am I the only one around here who thinks this is actually a problem?

That is my point. Hospitals should not be obligated to treat anyone. Give'em a Band-Aid, a pain shot, and cab fair home.

Just curious about your take on this. Should private non profit hospitals continue to receive tax exemptions? (somewhat like religious organizations)
Abstract
"Hospitals in the U.S. have long been able to obtain exemption from federal income tax because they meet the requirement known as the standard of “community benefit.” Yet lawmakers and scholars know virtually nothing about the actual workings of tax-exempt hospitals, or about whether, how, and to what extent they deliver benefits to their communities. ..."
Tax-Exempt Hospitals and Their Communities – Columbia Journal of Tax Law

New requirements for tax-exempt hospitals were put in place as part of the Affordable Care Act.

Should the rights of corporations, even private non-profit ones, supersede the rights of individual human beings? Why is the corporation's or industry's right to potentially protect monopolies seen as more important than the individual's right to protect their health?

Let's face it, the Affordable Care Act was largely written by Industry Lobbyists:

"The Center for Responsive Politics reports that the health-care industry spent over $243 million lobbying on health care issues through the first six months of 2013. No other industry sector spent more lobbying Congress and the federal government. ..."

(as an aside, this website is a very good resource on all lobbying activities)
