Thankfully Mr. Obama wasn't reading "My Pet Goat" to a bunch of school kids, but instead he went to a baseball game. The left would have went ballistic had he been reading the book.
What an idiotic display of vitriol coming from right-wingers losing their minds and finding any justification to bash Obama.
This trip has been planned for months and it isn't like rushing off now will change anything. The truth is that there is very little that Obama can do beyond offering American condolences and offering assistance, which he has done already with contacting the Belgian prime minister.
Also, the attack happened outside the USA, and it is not under US jurisdiction. It isn't as though the Belgians don't have resources to call upon (other EU countries neighboring, not to mention NATO's HQ there).
And if President Obama goes there, there would be a lot of distraction because of a lot of police and security forces having to be assigned to him for security, as opposed to where it needs to be used most - investigation of the attack, taking care of the victims, and hunting down the suspects.
Conservatives frankly need to shut the h*** up about Obama not dropping everything to respond to a terrorist attack, because the fact is that George W. Bush did the same thing in 2001, except that the terrorist attack was the worst ever on American soil. Reading My Pet Goat.
The Castro regime dying out of power would be the best thing for Cuba. Fidel is apparently so sick he doesn't appear in public anymore, who knows he could be dead and the government is hiding it. His brother seems pretty healthy however and he has some sons ready to assume power I think.
What people don't understand is that Cuba is a totalitarian "cult of personality" government, not much different from the Kim Jong dynasty in DPRK, Saddam in Iraq, Stalin, Hitler, Al-Assad in Syria, etc...I am not saying he is as severe as these guys, but his hold on power is similar, and you can see in the case of DPRK and Syria it is extending over generations. It's unfair to even label them communism anymore although they have the central government controlled economy still. Fidel is everywhere - on stamps, dollar bills, posters. They key to change in Cuba is not lifting the embargo, but removing the Castros (even though Raul seems much more mellow then Fidel).
It would be great if the US totally lifts the ban on the exact day that Fidel takes his dirt nap. What a great message that would bring. Instead of the people of Cuba mourning his death and thus carrying on the Castro dynasty, they would be celebrating his death every year as the dawn of a new era. How could a Castro even stay in power? The legacy of Castro would be totally turned around on it's head.
I would say 99% would love democracy and get rid of Castro bros and the regime- just need a little backing and timely death of those two zombies

And I bet you weren't, right? Even though OUR people died, in OUR country. I'm sure you were fine with the inaction.
