Hard core porn is prostitution, I don't get why it's legal but prostitution isn't.
I read an explanation of this somewhere, and my recollection is (something to the effect) that the crime of prostitution entails solicited performance for valuable consideration (pay) of a sexual act with another person for the gratification of said other person. (e.g. I solicit someone to perform a sexual act for my prurient gratification)
Performing in porn is not a crime when the solicited performance is intended for the gratification of third parties, i.e. a paying audience. (e.g. porn company solicits multiple actors to perform sexual acts for filthy lucre and the prurient gratification of paying customers)
Considering the fact that 90% of the American males and a good proportion of American women have watched Ms Olsen perform it is more than a bit hypocritical to then turn around and get all high and damned mighty about it. But this what the great majority of former porn stars have to go through. The stigma effects former female and male actors and many have to return to porn in order to make a living.
Should these men and women have recognized what they would unfairly face after being under the lights of a movie set, I suppose. Even though there is an increasing number of college students (see Belle Knox) entering the business most enter the business at a young age, making more money than they could at the local McDonald's. So there it is, folks entering in a legitimate line of work, then are stigmatized for life for having done so by the very folks who support the porn industry.
It would be nowhere near 90%. It is no longer the early 1980s, we live in a world of free porn now so a brand name is not needed on the box to sell a VHS tape and sex scenes are sold by catagory of acts and not by the actors doing them. Only the small percentage of superfan will look her up by name. She is only famous because a famous mainstream celebrity went for her otherwise she would be among the hundreds of thousands who signed a release to have videos of penetrative sex scenes released
How can a porn star do porn and then expect everyone in society to treat her like she's a former administrative assistant. How can she expect a school to hire her to work with kids as if she is just changing her career from doing accounting to teaching?

Popular and legal doesn't mean respectable, and respect still means something, so no, she really can't have any career she wants after working as a filmed prostitute. And she probably ought to have considered that before going into the business.
