Hmmm... Well, Sweden doesn't tax its citizens who live elsewhere (while the US does), and has no FATCA law like the US has. So IKEA and its billionaire founder Ingvar Kamprad paid little to no taxes to Sweden, or anywhere else for that matter.
This is the key. They haven't been polluted with subversives that are there to take and disrupt.
Which I said is untrue. 20% of the population of Sweden can claim foreign ancestry in the second generation.
Some of you should decide already: is Europe flooded with Muslim immigrants becoming Eurabia or is it homogenous and monocultural? Make up your mind.
And who cares if a nation is multicultural or not? What difference does it make? Are you guys seriously suggesting that White Americans don't want to pay subsidies to Asian Americans, and Black Americans don't want to pay subsidies to Hispanic Americans? Is the US really that racist and apartheid? Are you?
If some of you are really of the opinion that "I won't pay subsidies to n**gers", at least have the guts to admit it clearly.
Scandinavian-Americans live longer than Scandinavians and are wealthier than Scandinavians. It is better for Scandinavians to immigrate here.
What is the specific life expectancy for Scandinavian-Americans?
The Daily Signal article claims that Scandinavian-Americans live longer, however I didn't come across that in the actual source the article is based on. There's a possibility that I missed something, but I still can't seem to locate data that backs the claim.
It works because the government and corporations invest in the inhabitants to make them productive members of society. They don't have millions of people, say working at a place like Walmart where they get paid so little they qualify for welfare.
I wonder if 20% of the Swedish population lives off of generational welfare, taking much and giving little. I wonder if their gov't spending is so out of control that just interest on their debt will comprise it's 3rd largest annual expenditure.
Sweden is one of the most multicultural countries in Europe. Far more multicultural than for example Minnesota.
Only about 20% of Swedes are from a foreign background, and of these, a large number of them are from Europe - Finland, the former Yugoslavian countries, Germany, Turkey, Poland, etc.
Minnesota is one of the whitest states in the US at around 80% white, and yet it still is less white than Sweden.
How many majority non-white major cities are there in Sweden? Even Malmo is probably only what, maybe 35% non-white? The entire US is 38% non-white (~62% white, ~17% Hispanic, ~13% black, ~5% Asian, etc.).
In the US, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Washington D.C., Chicago, Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, St. Louis, Buffalo, New York City, Tampa, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Charlotte, Memphis, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, and San Antonio are all majority non-white.
There are also four entire states: Hawaii, California, Texas, and New Mexico which are majority non-white.
Sweden may be racially or ethnically diverse by Nordic or European standards, but it's not remotely close to being as racially or ethnically diverse as the United States.
Remember watching a TV show years ago about Greece, their benefits, their society, and how in comparison to the US it was the dawning of a new utopia. Well that system took a nut shot
The arrogance of these socialist countries...
Venezuela, government handing out free stuff all the time. Confetti down from the sky, sex, love and peace. America sooo backwards. Boom, oil $27/barrel I laughed
Sanandaji points out that Scandinavia-worshipers are missing an even bigger economic success story: the United States. Many poor Scandinavian farmers emigrated to the U.S. in the late 1800s and early 1900s, many settling in the Upper Midwest. Although most of the immigrants came from poor families, their descendants are wealthier than modern Scandinavians.
Yes, many Scandinavians did emigrate to the US in the 1800's, in a world which was quite different from what it is today. One of the main reason why Scandinavians emigrated were the ancient Germanic inheritance laws stemming from the Viking era. According to them, the eldest son inherited almost everything. The other sons (daughters got nothing) inherited 10% each. That meant that the younger sons would rent a part of the family farm from their own older brother. Due to the advanced medicinal inventions, this kind of subsistence farming didn't feed all of the population. But 2016 is not 1866.
The real economic success story is Scandinavia. If you exclude Norway with their oil, Scandinavia has risen from the poorest region of Western and Central Europe in 1700 to the most filthy rich societies of the World. A region with a cold climate, small population and few natural resources have surpassed 95% of the world in wealth. That is a success story.
BTW, that article is purely speculational and the writer seems to have zero clue how our societies work.
