I really don't know what the Bureau has on these guys, though I imagine it is pretty significant. Forget the 2,000+ confidential messages. When you find 22 TS messages naming intelligence sources and methods on a home server, somebody is going to jail for it. At least that would have happened back in my day.

I doubt they will plead the 5th right away - because they don't know what the Bureau has, either. When you cop the 5th, the interview stops and you don't learn what the government has against you.

Hillary escaped Whitewater largely by misleading investigators and withholding documents until after the statute of limitations ran out. Linda McDougal also went to jail for a couple of years for refusing to testify against her and Bill. There was an indictment drafted against Hillary but it was never presented to the grand jury. So yes, she has managed to escape everything so far.

Interesting bit of trivia: One of the lawyers preparing the case to indict Hillary was... (wait for it)... Jim Comey, who is now the FBI Director.

My guess is the owner of the server (The Clinton Foundation) is footing their legal bill. They are the deep pockets in this case. Again, not unusual.

When we went after companies and corporate officers, the companies usually retained lawyers for the employees we interviewed. Then we used the employees' testimony against the companies.

In order for the taxpayer to pay for the interviewees' counsel, the interviewees have to fill out (and swear to) very detailed financial forms and submit them to the court. A judge determines whether or not they get a public defender, and then the counsel is appointed from the local roster (or whatever procedure that district uses). The amount of money Hillary's aides make would take them right out of contention for a PD. And there is no way any court would appoint the same PD for multiple interviewees in the same case.

So the taxpayer isn't paying for it.

The last possibility is that Beth Wilkinson is doing it pro bono (for free). She is a big Hillary supporter, a campaign contributor and I suppose it is possible she's angling for a top DOJ position should Hillary get elected. But that comes pretty darn close to - and certainly looks like - a quid pro quo. Her new law firm, WWE, uses new and innovative ways to bill, so perhaps she is offering a discount.

There is only two reason why they would do this. One, to make sure they all give the same answers to the FBI's question. Second, so nobody gets any ideas of jumping off this sinking ship.

They have chosen former assistant U.S. attorney Beth Wilkinson. Wilkinson is someone with deep ties to Washington politics and the DOJ, and is a Clinton donor, and Democratic contributor.

This doesn't seem like the approach someone would use if there is nothing to hide, and no laws were broken.

How involved is Hillary in coordinating her aides legal defense? Hillary has already been paying legal fees for others involved in this scandal.

Four of Hillary Clinton’s closest aides appear to have adopted an unusual legal strategy, hiring the same ex-Justice Department attorney to represent them in the FBI’s investigation of Clinton's private email server.

Beth Wilkinson, a well-connected former assistant U.S. attorney best known for prosecuting Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, is listed as representing three of Clinton’s top State Department staffers, according to a congressional letter obtained by POLITICO and dated Feb. 10. A fourth Clinton aide, Philippe Reines, is also represented by Wilkinson, according to sources familiar with their representation.

Hiring the same attorney allows Clinton’s advisers to have one gatekeeper for most of the DOJ's inquiries — and it likely indicates that they expect to offer substantially similar testimony if they're questioned. Thus, the aides' decision to use a so-called “joint-representation†or “common-defense†strategy suggests the staffers believe they’re in this together and are unlikely to turn on each other.

“The premise of employing the same counsel is that they believe there is not likely to be a situation where they start pointing a finger at one another to save their own skins — or perhaps at Secretary Clinton,†said Dan Metcalfe, founding director of the DOJ's office of information and privacy. “And there’s a sense that if one of them goes down, they all go down. It shows they think they can coordinate the defense to everyone’s benefit.â€

By tapping Wilkinson, the Clinton confidants have selected someone with deep ties to Washington politics and the DOJ. The 53-year-old wife of former “Meet the Press†host David Gregory is a Clinton donor and Democratic contributor, according to Federal Election Commission filings.

Several lawyers said the legal strategy would certainly benefit Clinton, if not the aides.

It is sad indeed that many, many democrats will vote for this crime lord, who will do nothing with a presidency but stuff her pockets, at the expense of the nation.

Very sad. Never before has the US had such a corrupt, self serving individual running for the White House. Many became corrupt AFTER being in office, but Hillary is way ahead of the curb.

A Hillary presidency (as her past would indicate future behavior) would be corrupt, scandalous, and injurious to the nation. Libs dont care.

And people wonder why it has taken a year for these investigations - 147 FBI Agents under the Direct control of Director Jim Comey and the 2 Inspector General investigations. Comey knows exactly what he is up against - indications are they have the servers and ALL the emails including the "deleted" emails about yoga classes and weddings.

Clinton is still saying she won't be interviewed.

I have to say, this is all going to come out in the wash.

Conviction
No conviction
Blatant cover-up, like we are all stupid.
Or Presidential Pardon

Oh, the offer will absolutely be made. You never, ever write a pros memo without reflecting what happened when you offered an interview to the subject. If she says no, then that's what gets reported. If she consents to an interview, than what she says in response to questioning is what gets reported. The only times you do not include a reference to an interview is when the subject is a fugitive or dead.

Now, what she says publicly to her fans, such as calling a criminal investigation a "security review," is an entirely different matter.

Can you imagine voting for someone for president who needed a presidential pardon just to remain on the ballot?

Neither can any of my Democratic friends.
