Air France should have said no direct planes to Iran.
Either welcome to the 21st century or stay in the dark ages.
Iran at one time was a democratic society. Go google/bing pics of Iran 1970's and you'll be amazed.
Air France made a business decision.
Iran is progressive compared to US ally, Saudi Arabia.
The pictures of Iran before the revolution typically show the wealth class, many of whom were Jews. It has nothing to do with how the majority of Iranians lived in those times.
The wealth class left Iran and resettled in Canada, Europe and the US. Ever hear of Terhangeles? They refer to themselves as Persians to distinguish themselves from current day Iran.

Like France made a business decision to surrender to Hitler and not really fight that hard.
So what do you think "the West" should do about Islamic dress codes in Islamic nations? Bomb them? Make muslims wear dunce caps when they come here?
Because I honestly don't see much that can - or should - be done. There's certainly nothing an AIRLINE can do, and an airline is the topic here.
The West can tell them to pound sand. We can tell them that we do not allow for the subjugation of our women based on some fantasy religion. We can tell them that respect is a two way street. They wear what the like in France, and the French can wear what they like in Iran. If they can't handle it like big boys, then we stop providing airline service to their country and see if they prefer that.
But we won't do any of that will we... no, instead we'll wrap our women up like the property that Islam holds them out to be. That's the saddest part of the whole thing, we will begin abusing the rights and dignity of our own women, forcing them to cover themselves because they are second class citizens in Iran and we facilitate that belief by our own willingness to go along. How pathetic.
Awesome, they should only allow gay male flight attendants.
