That's why we need extremely rigid immigration policy now. Too many Presidents have failed us. We need massive deportations, a wall, and huge penalties for enabling employers.

A corporate death penalty is required, with equity holders barred for life from owning any equity in a business with them as an officer again. Nor family (blood).

This is your far right GOP utopia.

Homeless but employed: the Chicago restaurant workers living under a bridge | Society | The Guardian

“The people under the bridge are no good, lazy,” Ganglie Jiao, the owner of one of the three agencies sued by the attorney general, told the Guardian. “Maybe they worked at Chinese restaurants – but not through my office.” He later conceded: “maybe some go to my office”.

The agencies pay for bus or train tickets to send the men to restaurants in other states, where they live in housing controlled by the restaurant owners, as described by more than 30 men interviewed between October and March. The men owe the agency a “commission” of $120 to $250 for each job; they typically work four days to pay off the commission and transportation. After that, they typically make $400 to $600 for working six-day weeks, 12 hours a day, as dishwashers, cutters, friers, or cooks.

That comes out to $5-8 an hour, significantly below the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour plus time-and-a-half for overtime.

“These employment agencies target vulnerable Latino workers and place them with restaurant employers who exploit them,” attorney general Lisa Madigan said.

The complaint, filed on behalf of the public and the Illinois department of labor, adds: “These unlicensed employment agencies have targeted Latino workers [most are undocumented] and actively marketed their ability to provide such Latino (or ‘Mexican’) workers to Chinese buffet restaurants that looked to fill low-paid kitchen positions.”
typical, liberals blame the GOP when the problem is on BOTH SIDES of the isle. democrats want open borders, but so do the current crop of republicans. both sides want a low minimum wage for the same reason, to control the people.

but in the end this is what you get when you have a one size fits all federal minimum wage. what would work in arizona, doesnt work in california or new york. and this is the problem with a powerful central government, the solutions they come up with dont work everywhere. they are overbearing in one area, and insufficient in another area.

if you want things to get better, then lets take the power away from the federal government, and put it back in the hands of the state governments where it belongs. make the federal government go back to defending our borders, and national interests, and let the states control what happens inside their borders.

It's bad enough businesses small and large are forced to collect taxes for Uncle Sam, now you want them to be immigration officers? No sale.

As long as employers use E verify; they should be home free. That WILL scare off many illegals right there.

That makes too much sense. But then liberals will lose their voting base.

That's actually a blessing for those cooks.

I'm imagining that they were poor illegal migrants from some country and were given the opportunity to work an honest job, make three times the money they did in their home country in cash, and live rent free in NYC.

I'm sure they ate free too.

They were fortunate.
