Our team member wrote “Love Wins” at the top of the cake as requested by the guest, and that’s exactly how the cake was packaged and sold at the store. Our team members do not accept or design bakery orders that include language or images that are offensive. Whole Foods Market has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination. We stand behind our bakery team member, who is part of the LGBTQ community, and the additional team members from the store, who confirmed the cake was decorated with only the message “Love Wins.”

This incident reminded me of the lesbian waitress who cried wolf.
Incidentally I worked at whole foods for eight years. I have plenty of reasons to criticize them. Don't get me started. But they are extremely LGBT-friendly.

Yeah, this does seem fraudulent. I watched the "pastor's" video and saw where the bar-code/label was placed on the box in the video. It seems to be in a very different location from the bar-code on the box at the checkout counter. Note, I write "seems" as it wasn't/isn't clear to me whether the "white paper" (which may very well be a bar-code) that is on the top of the cake box in the store footage is actually a bar-code or is something else (like a piece of paper/order bill from the bakery). In any event, the cashier doesn't seem to bring the scanner down all the way to where the bar-code is in the "pastor's" video; though, admittedly, its not entirely clear from Whole Foods' video where the cashier is scanning. Still, this thing appears to be fraudulent on the "pastor's" end. Just another way to make a quick buck.
Note: the fact that Whole Foods itself, and presumably many of its employees, are very tolerant/open-minded doesn't eliminate the possibliity that something like this could have happened. Still, from what is known, things don't look good for this "pastor."
I see a lot of people offering their positions and basically no facts presented.
I don't know, it's definitely suspicious, but I have to ask, what is the end goal here? Why fake it? What does he plan on getting?
Also, what sort of person doesn't check the cake before taking it home? Missing a typo is one thing, but to not see that there is another word added to a cake with two words?
It's suspicious, but I won't offer anything further. The two parties will make their case and whoever has the most compelling argument will have my support, and ideally the courts as well.
Never been a fan of Whole Foods but I'm starting to like them now. So tired of these manufactured stories and other scams that seem to be becoming the norm these days.
When does Ted Cruz swoop in to support this pastor and make this the crux of his campaign??
