YOU guys took every single dime out of Social Security and put useless "iou" notes in its place. its a joke,

EVERY SINGLE DIME paid into Social Secruity is RAIDED BY LAWS that were put in place by democrats.

What republicans talked about doing (and I support especially since the crash of 2008) is that each person SS taxes be placed into a private account owned and operated by THEM and that money cannot be turned into cash for politicians to spend on anything else.

liberals talking about government thievery in deed. talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
"Privatization means increased retirement risks, severe cuts in Social Security benefits, and a multi-trillion dollar increase in the federal debt."
The Truth About Social Security and Privatization

And privatizing SS will allow Wall Street CEO's to take $100's of billions of dollars from everyone's SS money (Wall Street will charge everyone privatization fees.)

The people who want to raise the retirement age or eliminate Social Security should make an effort to better understand how one feels mentally and physically in your late 60s. Or be ready to have Mom and Dad move in with them when their retirement income is taken away.

They also need to learn how hard it would be to save a million dollars for retirement on working class wages.

BZZT!

SOME people are living longer. The top half is living longer, not so much the bottom half.

Therefore, increasing the SS retirement age is inherently regressive.

So the Koch Brothers are just evil and want to make Americans as miserable as possible?

Sure, what a great way to open the debate. Surely nothing has changed ....

Really. It seem to me we need some workers to pay for retirement.....Why not ask how many workers that is or how much we should be taxing those workers to support retirees. Then we could come up with a retirement age that would not be politically motivated.

sorry.

if Bernie is saying it, that means I neither believe nor care.

furthermore its utter hypocrisy for Progs to talk about the Koch brothers when their own side has an actual Nazi sympathizer spending billions on politics.

PROG speak on the subject means increased raiding on my bank account. increased regulation that restricts my personal freedom and purposeful destruction of things like the American healthcare system.

The truth about social security is that the only thing is secures is POVERTY for those who must rely on it.

The truth today is no different than it was in the early 60s when Ronald Reagan pointed out that if a worker were to take their SS taxes and invest in a freaking annuity, they would come out way ahead.

As soon as they can guarantee that I'll live at least into my early 90s and remain healthy, I'll have no problem raising the minimum age to 70. Until they can do that, they can stick it.

PS Chad3 the "truth" about SS Privatization will never be told by progressives. NEVER. PROGS will always lie because they don't want it. they hate it. they despise the chance of losing control over peoples lives.

Further, any linked story to the "truth" of privatization is a lie because there is no actual proposal on the table today that can be evaluated.
