Well, only if they register as "a gay" at least 5 years ahead of time. You better not just be "testing the water!" Perhaps we should hook them to lie detector tests and make SURE they are really gay and ready to commit to it for good? No flip-flopping! Maybe we could only allow them to be legally married if they move to the really run down neighborhoods in inner cities? Then they will fix them up beautifully and crime will go down. Outdoor cafes will become the norm and dog parks and athletic clubs will pop up everywhere.

He he heeee. I'm kidding about the first part. I say, they pay taxes, they should be able to get married.

Sorry, but paying taxes doesn't give someone anymore "right" to get "married" or even drive a car than someone who doesn't pay taxes. Because both of those are not rights, but privileges.

Really? It appears that a man & a woman actually DO have the right to get married, it's not considered a privilege. How convenient for you to turn that around just because YOU are allowed to get married.

It is not a right. There are qualifications. You have to be old enough, you can't marry a member of your family, you have to take a blood test, etc.

And you have to conform to someone else's religious views, despite the fact that the whole point of America was freedom of religion. Yes, we're well aware of the qualifications of marriage. What we're questioning is their legitimacy.

I'll step back into what I consider possibly the least important debate in our country to say: WTF?? This is PRECISELY the "definition" of marriage that I think some people on here are scared is going to become mainstream. Whether we allow gay marriage to be "legal" or not...I'll say this: Whoever marriage unites, it had better mean more than this simplistic and cold definition...and clearly this includes heteros, such as the scandolous celebs/Vegas folks who are "married" for less than 24 hours.

America was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs.

And marriage is still not a "right."

The only thing thats wrong with gay marriage is that its different and it scares a bunch of conservative people who can't stand anything different from themselves.
