As a general rule, when a cop is punching a man repeatedly who has already been pinned to the ground, that's excessive force. I'd actually apply that to everyone; not just cops.
Absolutely, but can you train this response out of any human under those conditions? You could but not likely. Won't happen until we have a Robo cop.
I love the part where the guy says 'this will have to be investigated'.
Really, guy? You saw the video, what is there to be investigated? Did the cops already lie, not knowing there was a vid?
On top of that, I hate how they let soooo much time go before getting a statement from the officers involved. Don't they have to file a report after incidents? There was some other police incident where it was 2 weeks later and investigators still hadn't met with the officer to get a statement. Really? Do you not know where the guy works or lives? (yes, i know it is because of the union but police don't give criminals weeks to get their story together so this shouldn't be any different). Also, if i went up to someone and punched them and police had a video, I would immediately be arrested and THEN the investigation would commence to see what the situation was.
Normal and appropriate for use of force investigations
I'm not salivating like a number of you. .. I want to see and hear all the evidence. I want to see forensic video.I want all the interviews..bystanders..other video evidence. I want to gather all the physical evidence... Nobody is going anywhere.. I'll let process work.
I want the truth instead of knee jerk reaction..especially if and when I want to charge and convict someone

Thats fine. Now let's just say that there are no other witnesses, bystanders, etc. This video alone is enough proof to go to a grand jury and go to trial. Even if there is more evidence on the side of the officer, let a jury decide.
I'm holding final opinion... I elected to not listen to any audio and only watch the incident visually... I couldn't see it that well...but at first blush it didn't appear to be some overwhelming unnecessary use of force... People are saying he was already handcuffed.. I didn't see that ..it may have occurred but I can't tell... Peopke also say he was surrendering... I didn't see that either...
Use of force is brutal by its very nature... Life doesn't go well for crooks who don't surrender in the classical sense. I didn't see any of that
Absolutely it is excessive force. I would want at least one of the officer immediately fired. Yes, i'm sure tensions were high and the blood was flowing but all that shows to me is that at least one of those officers cannot hold themselves together in a crisis. That is not what we want in our officers. Criminals are criminals for a reason and they do certain things. We expect the police officers to be better than that and not stoop to the criminal's level. If they do, then they are no different.
True. If cop can't handle the job, he should find employment elsewhere. That's how it works in any other profession. All these excuses point to enablers.
If it wasn't lethal force he deserved to get beat for what he did. He put people in danger. He's a big boy, he can handle it.
In reality that's what it comes down to. Your an idiot and a criminal, you run from the police. Should we really care that you got your azz beat.
