I really feel terrible for Trans people. They don't deserve this.
Progs decided to do this. Progs shined a light on them in a way that can only do them harm. There never was an issue. There was never an issue to solve by force of law.
Trans people have been using RRs related to what they look like for as long as they have been around. This was all about tossing a bomb into the political arena to prove that republicans hate everybody. its sick its disgusting and it proves that Progs don't care about people, they care about controlling people.
It's not just Republicans who object to this:
Quote:
"Most Americans (59 percent) aren't comfortable with the idea of transgender students picking which bathroom or locker room to use, and think they should use the facilities of the gender they were born as, while 26 percent think they should be allowed to use the bathrooms and locker rooms of their preferred gender.
...Just 23 percent of Americans age 30 and older think transgender students should be able to pick which facilities to use, compared to 35 percent of Americans under 30"
Just look at the response of those old enough to have kids... 77%of the age 30+ population doesn't want transgenders to be able to "choose" which facilities (men's/boys' or women's/girls') to use.
There's NO way 77% of the age 30+ population is Republican.
This almost seems to be a backhanded blow by Obama to Hillary's campaign.
No, people are not stupid: there is a simple answer which has been discussed; have women's, men's bathrooms plus one bathroom for anyone who wants a unisex choice. Your idea may sound great, but think of the expense installing several one person only bathrooms. BTW, we can disagree without being stupid.
Your simple answer is so simple, it doesn't handle the issue that concerns most people: a male who chooses to use a women's bathroom/locker room.
I feel like the Obama administration is trying to create a de facto definition of gender with this move, something beyond his scope as that would fall to the legislature and/or the judicial. The definition of gender does have legal implications in our society beyond bathroom and locker room usage. Gender can have an impact on registering for selective service, affirmative action, scholarships, sports participation, and various other areas. I have a feeling that the definition of gender from a legal standpoint will not be simply what one 'identifies his or herself as' (perhaps some of our armchair legal scholars could research this). This simply serves to prove, once again, the Obama administration did not take into account almost any legal implications with this decree.
He doesn't care about legal ramifications. And the sports issue is going to come up soon, and females will be screwed again because males will be playing female sports and females will not be as fast, as tall, or as strong.

That's already happening. The MTF trans student with a penis in IL School Dist 211 plays on girls' sports teams.
1. Transgenders are not the problem. Perverts and rapists using this as a way to be to their pray easier is the issue.
2. Bathrooms alone are not the problem, there are stalls and Transgenders will use those like they always have. Who will know? A transgender isn't using a urinal in a men's bathroom anyways.
3. The problem is locker rooms where men walk around nude and the showers. I assume women do the same. I might have to be a women today and check to make sure.
4. Bathrooms in locker rooms are problematic. I.e. point 1 and 3.
5. A 6 ft 5 lady called into spkandlish's radio show today. She is a biological women truck driver who now is treated as a leper in the ladies room because some think she is a man. What happens if violence comes to her because of this or the law gets called on her? Does she need to show the goods to prove she is a women?
We have gone down the rabbit hole. Don't ask don't tell has been the unwritten rule forever on this issue. It should have stayed that way.
Persons tat have had their sexual organs changed should use the restrooms with the appropriate plumbing. Even male restrooms with the wall of urinals have some privacy and female restrooms have individual cubicles. If privacy is the main concern the male restrooms could simply make the partitions between the urinals larger.
Note- people that have these operations have considered themselves to be the sex they were changed to accommodate. One could consider that female oriented men transgendered into females have been using male restrooms most of their lives. Male oriented females have been doing the same.
I think this debate is an attempt by the conservative religious right to force their views that transgender operations are almost as evil as abortion and should be prevented, along with any legal accommodation, by the force of government. My opinion is if your religious beliefs consider a particular act evil then do not do that act yourself. Do not try to use law to force the rest of us to go along with your beliefs.

If Trump is willing to run in part on making it okay to say "Merry Christmas" again, I see no reason for him not to make this an issue.

Conservatives didn't start this, so you're wrong.
