Too bad. I was hoping you could hook me up with a few good smokes. But thanks for the response.

I drive in traffic, there is no smell, no foul nauseating stench from the cars, occasionally from a diesel engine under heavy load, but that is it, and it is only a waxy parafn smell.

Now listen very carefully. Internal combustion engines are a necessity for our way of life. They move us, they do other work for us, they move the stuff we need from production to distribution to place of final consumption.

Tobacco does none of that. It is just a recreational drug for the weak-minded who need a brain crutch, and along the way, they cause all sorts of problems from nauseating stench to respiratory distress to cancer and death.

All this, of course, is perfectly obvious to even the most myopic observer, but, you seem to fail to see it, defending the vile, putrid minority who make everyone else miserable with their filth spewn wantonly and with utter disregard into the air other are breathing (an act which is necessary to sustain life).

As a matter of fact, I don't do anything that harms other people.

Try very had to get a clue. The normal people are fighting back, and we are, and will continue, to win victory after victory in the defense of our rights not to be assaulted with smoker filth.

If you want a good smoke, try hickory chips. Soak them in water first and then put them on the BBQ.

Are you implying no smoker drives a car?

Alcoholics......they tend to get meaner the more they age and drink.

Good point. What he really is doing is grasping at straws in defense of the indefensible.

Your topic says alcoholics and now you change the definition to just people who have drinks around you.

If you can't stay coherent for the 15 seconds it took you to go from thread title to topic you need to try harder.

Nothing worse than driving behind a smoker and the stench infiltrates your car. Either via open windows or simply thru my AC.

Smoking is one of the worst things anyone can do to themselves. It's an expensive habit, it can kill you, it can kill other people around you, and makes your insurance rates and other medical costs go up.

I'd much rather be around people who drink occasionally (myself included) than people who smoke occasionally. How many people are really "occasional" smokers though? Most of the ones I know seem to need a cigarette every 30-60 minutes.

I'm no smoker but the wrath they absorb is a bit unfair IMO. They have been described as "scum. Narcissistic, weak-minded vermin" and that's really harsh. They made a choice and last time I checked this is America and we are free to make choices. Sure our insurance rates go up a bit but when you look at the big picture of why health care costs have gotten so out of control smokers are way down the list. As for the smoker I've seen no evidence that it makes their insurance rates go up. I have never checked a "non-smoker" box at any open enrollment so obviously I'm paying the same for health coverage as the smoker.

At one time they sure were much more offending and the risk of 2nd hand smoke was very real. But the days of smoking at parties, in restaurants etc are long gone. They have been relegated to specific areas far from non-smokers in most cases and in many areas they have to get in their car and leave campus entirely. The only time I have an issue is when they smoke near the entrance to a doorway in the rain but that is infrequent. For the vast majority of us we are not so sensitive to smoke that it offends us when coming from a car 50 feet ahead. If you are that sensitive then you have every right to be upset, for the most of us it's not an issue IMO.
