Much smaller fires more dead, more homes lost AND they weren't put out in a week.

You sure showed us your superior fire fighting skillset, didn't you?
Uh; word was "our" fires were in heavily populated areas and, I'm guessing the US had enough local help to take them down and, "outsiders" would've made things tougher.

Canada DID send some RCMP to Louisiana 10 years ago after Katrina to back up our local cops, they were in a world of hurt. Even Mexico sent a few soldiers, too.

Packard fan; please don't misunderstand me; I'm just slanging to and fro with a couple of particular banterers. They push my buttons and I'm happy to oblige. I'm a trolls wet dream.

When the help is needed, I know full well it'll be there on the part of the U.S.

Tar sands is open pit mining just like a lot of your coal mining and fracking is predominantly done to recover oil/gas deposits in shale. A process invented by America in 1949 and only started by Canada in the early 60's.

A bit of history of fracking:

Shooters - A "Fracking" History - American Oil & Gas Historical Society

And this one should forever put to rest any scurrilous remarks directed towards Canada on the topic of fracking:

Holy Cr**! And you've got less water to start with than Canada does.
