From a global alarmist:

Quote:
"I predict that before the end of the century the great global cities of our planet near the sea will have two- or three-metre (6.5 - 10 feet) high sea defences all around them," said Martin Siegert, co-director of the Grantham Institute and Department of Earth Science and Engineering at Imperial College London, and the study's senior author.
No large Western cities are going under. Galveston built a wall within a few years with no federal assistance after they were hit by a hurricane in 1900.

And at the end of the century, when they've found no significant change in the sea level, I'm sure they'll just make another prediction about the planet some arbitrary number of decades later.

When at 10pm, I can turn on the weather channel and know with more than 60% certainty of whether I need an umbrella in the morning - then I'll listen about the climate at the end of the century.

What about Florida? The whole state is going to sink into the ocean. But a 4th floor condo and you can dock your boat to your porch.

We can't even get bridges and potholes fixed, and you're ready to built huge sea walls?

Galveston was not a particularly large city and they built a wall 110 years ago.

Is it not amazing how we have "progressed" in the last century?

It's not my fault people built ocean-front properties, without first understanding the Glacial Cycle.
