Home Depot is wrong. Just as they would have been wrong to allow a worker to wear a hat with Make America Great Again emblazoned on it.

It's called "engaging in conteoversy," and employees who work with the public should never be doing it.

I do want to say how absurd it is that whoever is behind this website thinks the entire store management should be fired. Odds are, not every store manager was even there, and certainly not every store manager interacts with every employee. Who ever wrote this is painfully out of touch with retail.

And yes, she has a right to her opinion, but it's probably best she does't express it via a hat while working.

Wonder how many patrons walked up to her and asked her about the hat? And no, i'm not referring to the closet messages regarding death threats and whatever else.

"America was never great" on the hat.
She wouldn't work for me.
I would complain, then go to Lowes.

Airing your political beliefs in the middle of a customer service job is wrong. And wearing a hat inside is poor manners.

There is likely language in her HD employment handbook that prohibits political or inflammatory messages. Her supervisor/manager dropped the ball.

Interestingly in "the land of the free and the home of the brave" an individual loses almost all of their civil rights when they take a job. At least most employees get paid for their time but not their loss of their rights to express their political opinion.

Completely inappropriate to wear at a retail job.

So you think an employee should be able to wear anything she wants as long as it has a political message?
