Is there a reason why liberals protest conservative events, but not vice versa?

In the past, during the Vietnam era, construction workers attacked anti-war demonstrations. I think that whichever side is doing the attacking at any given time are the less intellectually oriented and more physically oriented. That's why we see chairs flying at Sanders events.
