If people took this attitude towards roads and airports, we'd be stuck in medieval times.
Those folks are all talk. I think it's just an excuse to be cheap because obviously they don't believe it enough to go out and something about past complain on the interwebz.

No, we wouldn't. Lots of private sources can build better roads and airports than we have today.
Maybe you haven't flown to O'Hare or Laguardia lately. Those are third world government controlled airports.
The problem is raising capital for such large projects and then extrapolate that across the country. Government bonds are much cheaper.
